  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Has anyone else had this problem? Is there anything one can do against it? It gets so bad I sometimes have to gag and then throw up. I heard it is not that uncommon for pregnant women, but I personally don't know anyone who had it.

I have had hyperventilation before, but that is about ten years ago, and I haven't been bothered by it since. A contributing factor I believe is a problem with my sinusses which can close off my possibility to breathing easily through my nose, and of course I can not take the medication I would normally take because I am pregnant.

Does anyone have some advice?

It is very common in pregnancy for your breathing rate to increase, or to feel breathlessness. This is because your blood becomes diluted and therefore has a lower % of red blood cells which carry oxygen. Therefore, in order for all your cells to get oxygen, you have to breathe faster.

It would be a good idea to talk to your doctor or midwife about this. They may want to give you a blood test to check for the haemoglobin levels, and recommend/prescribe iron tablets or to recommend an iron rich diet.

Vit.E (natural form) would be excellent for you to take. Vit.E helps the blood cells hold more oxygen... which makes you breathe easier. It also helps your unborn baby get plenty of oxygen, which is really important during labor & birth.

You can safely take 400- 800 iu of natural Vit.E per day (don't even bother with the synthetic, it's worthless).

I took the Vit.E for the first time with baby #7. I was amazed at how much easier I could breathe. Then, after he was born, the midwife saw that he had a "true knot" in the umbilical cord... If I hadn't taken the Vit.E, he may have had problems from lack of oxygen...

Anyway, it's worth a try, even if you're skeptical. A few days of taking it, and you should tell a difference. :)

HTH~
