These are reflections from a Pastor who lives in the hurricane affected areas of the south.
I learned . . .
. . . that the sound of a flushing toilet is a beautiful thing
. . . That a bag of ice can be like a bag of gold
. . . That a bottle of water given in Jesus name does not go unnoticed
. . . That there are few things as wonderful as a candle in the dark
. . . That no battery lasts forever
. . . That I can survive without television
. . . That traffic lights are not my enemy, but my friend
. . . That trees are like egos - the bigger they are, the harder they fall
. . . That garbage men are true heroes
. . . That cold showers can actually be looked forward to
. . . That making shadow animals and playing monopoly are way more fun than xbox or play station 2
. . . That Im not very good at charades-But, that charades by candlelight made me laugh more than I have in years
. . . That complaining has no place in society
. . . Furthermore, that complaining is like a hurricane itself - full of a lot hot air that does a lot of damage
. . . Furthermore, that complaining should be made a crime, punishable by having to sit in a room with other complainers
. . . Ill stop, so this is not taken as complaining. I learned to appreciate little things more, like a wave from a motorist letting me in line
. . . Like a gentle breeze
. . . Like holding hands
. . . Like a fan
. . . Like a hot shower
. . . Like a hot meal, even if its Taco Bell
. . . I also learned the value of things, like a roof over my head, especially if it doesnt leak
. . . Like phone service
. . . Like a full tank of gas
. . . Like a good neighbor
. . . Like patience
. . . Like kindness
. . . Like a soft answer
. . . Like mercy
. . . Ive also learned how temporary things in life are, like a well built, up to code house, that can be here today, and gone tomorrow . . . Like . . . Pretty much, like everything . . . Except God, His Word, and our souls. And I believe the most important thing I learned from the hurricane is this: that if we as Christians depended on God as much as we depend on electricity, we could turn the world upside down for Jesus Christ!
