• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't remember ever reading a meteorological discussion in this forum, but it should fall under Physical sciences.

Best case projection is Bill heading east out to sea without making landfall anywhere along the east coast US or Canada.

However, it's also quite possible (maybe likely) that this storm will affect me and/or other forum members on the east coast.

<<panics>>

Is there a Meteorologist in the house?

Hmm. At least quakes are of shorter duration than the average hurricane, so I guess that's a plus. OTOH... QUAKE!!!

Other than the Time I was in the Military(4 years) I've lived out in CA my whole life.
I've managed to miss every major Quake out here.

(How many Hurricanes have you been through ? :))

Maybe a dozen have brushed past Nova Scotia in my lifetime, usually offshore or as a cat 1 in some other part of the province.

Juan in 2003, however, hit my area dead on as a cat 2, caused major destruction, particularly along the coast and in the coastal forest. Power was out 11 days here and through much of the area for at least a week. Many stretches of forest within ten km of my home were smashed flat, not a tree remained standing.

So I'm a touch nervous of Bill.

Wasn't there also one last year---maybe Kyle?---that also came close to you?
