Hurray & Yippee (a braggin' post)

Just feel like telling the world that my gorgeous 14 month old dorta (daughter) used the toilet for the very first time today!!!

Silly I know - we all learnt to do it eventually! - but she came and told me she wanted to go, after only a week of sitting her on the seat and telling her what it was all for.

So, baby girl, your mum is real proud of you.

Way to go!! My oldest wasn't potty trained until he was 3. My 2nd is now 2 1/2 and I'm dreading starting him because it was so hard with the first. Ugh.

My son is 2 1/2 and there is no way I am starting him. He has the attention span of a knat.

As an aside, my pastors are Australian too (we're in Vancouver), and I keep bugging them about pronouncing 'dorta' properly!

Congrats and its not silly, I think its wonderful that she can do that and when my son does it I will be jumping for joy. I know like you say we all learn to do it but its just neat to teach them the process of doing it and see how much they learn at this age.

My son has only just been potty trained to a place where I would say he's reliable and I can trust him to tell me he needs to go when we are out.

He is 3 and 2 mths.

thanks, everyone, for sharing my happy... I know it's going to be a while before Dorta can reliably tell me ahead of time (you don't want to know about the state of the carpet today... twice!), but she managed to tell me a few times that she wanted to go. I've heard that anything under 18 months is a waste of time, but I can't believe that.

Andry, stop picking on the Aussies... Clearly, as your pastors, they must have lots of good stuff to say! My husband and I are hoping to get to Vancouver to live for 2 years - we believe that God's confirmed twice that we'll go, but I admit, in the natural it seems much less certain. It would be nice to get to know you and learn a bit about Vancouver!
