CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

An investigation itself isn't evidence of wrongdoing, you know.
I will agree that there was investigation of Trump that was wrong-headed. By "wrong-headed," I mean to say that a valid investigation should start with a crime having been discovered, and the crime being investigated leading to a suspect. It shouldn't start with a designated suspect in an attempt to find a crime.
For instance, the Watergate investigation started with an actual crime: Police arrested burglars in the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate complex. The investigation of the crime lead to leading figures in the Nixon campaign and eventually to Nixon himself.
We've now gotten into a bad place.

The Russian investigation confirmed that Russia meddled in the 2016 elections to help the Trump campaign. In the current election cycle Russia has been spreading misinformation about voter fraud in the US to undermine American faith in the election process and spreading misinformation about Joe Biden's mental health.

This current email scandal also appears to be an attempt by Russia to cast doubts in the minds of the American public and the FBI is reportedly conducting an investigation into whether or not Russia is involved. There are also more than 50 former intelligence officials who doubt the claims being made about Hunter Biden and his laptop.

The bottom line is that Russia is one of our adversaries, not our friend. Russia wants our country to fail. If you read the links I provided, you will find that our current president is literally parroting Russian propaganda in his tweets, interviews, and at his rallies. As an American, I find this to be deeply disturbing.

Let me point out something here. As a US intelligence analyst, if I am able to discern Russian activities using Russian government sources that US or Allied intelligence agencies have pilfered, that's still good intelligence--the best intelligence, for that matter.
And MI-6 are good allied intelligence allies. I had Brits, Canucks, and Aussies working beside me in every level of US intelligence I ever worked, including my years in the DIA and working with the CIA in DC. Don't cast shade on them.
