The scientific theory of evolution is about the mechanisms by which variation of populations changes species and produces new species. It is an ignorant assertion that there is confusion when this is high school level textbook biology.

Does this book have any new insights to present about the bacterial flagellum and how that concept connects to human evolution, or did you just want to spam the forum with an add for the (your?) book?

A problem with the book is a description making it seem ignorant about evolution and irrelevant.
Evolution is not a scientific theory about the creation of life. Or the "origin of life".
Evolution is not just a "random process" as in mutations.
Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District was not really a landmark trial. It was an ordinary federal trial on a decision by 1 school district to use an Intelligent Design (which explicitly states nothing about the designer) textbook, not Christian creationism or the Bible. The outcome was that testimony in the trial convinced the judge that they were making a religious rather than scientific argument: For the reasons that follow, we conclude that the religious nature of ID [intelligent design] would be readily apparent to an objective observer, adult or child.
