My dad has an Omnibook laptop, and it freezes constantly and has to be reset. My sister bought an HP Pavilion package a few months ago, and the LCD monitor she got flickered, so she had to get it replaced. My dad and I thought of ordering stuff and assembling our own computer, but we ended up buying a Compaq (owned by HP) Presario from Best Buy instead. When we tried to boot it, there was no video input to the monitor, the hard drive light stayed on, and the fan was running continually. It couldn't be shut off, so we had to pull the plug out. I suspect a cable (inside) wasn't connected well, because we tried to boot it about eight or ten times and it worked once. We got it replaced the next morning. What is wrong with HP's computers, anyway?? Has anyone else had problems?

If once bitten twice shy, then what is 3 times bitten?

I'm not a fan of HP/Compaq comuters. Some of the HP periferals are decent though. I've had nothing but problems with Compaq systems. Very much a pain in the butt to work on/with.

If you want to buy mass produced systems then just get a Dell.

I had an HP Pavilion desktop computer too - bought it in 2000 - model 8755c. Served me fine till the mobo died in 2002:cry: Too short a lifespan for my liking. Replaced it with a custom made jobbie - still goin' strong ! ^_^

Well i'm not totally sure about HP's, but I own a Compaq and i've never had so many problems in my life. It's ok though, cause I've solved most of them but it does get frustrating. I've used toshiba's and they seem to be my fav.
