I don;t know if I mentioned this earlier...but in addition to playing thousands of speed games to memorize patterns so you can see tactics...you also need to learn the game as a "whole" and understand general principles and how to develop a plan for advancing pawns when your position is equalized.
Time + Force + Space + Pawn Structure + King Safety and learning these five elements and what they actually mean and how to apply them to the game as a whole will greatly increase your capability of obtaining a higher rating.
