  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How would you prove the Universe is old?

I thought the brain was specifically highlighted on it.

Kinda like saying we're capable of using them.

Then wouldn't it be better to color the brain pink rather than black? I would much prefer an atom (even though pantheist has it).

Nah, it has to be real. All of our modern scientism means nothing, unless it coincides my opinion.
I kind of get hung up on the fact that God struck down the tower of Babel, which couldn't possibly have been as tall as our tallest buildings today, but allowed us to hurl people into space (where early people assumed Heaven to be) unimpeded. It does not follow.

Random question: Is it a CF joke to make the atheist symbol look like a person with an empty head?
I look at it as an emphasis on the brain instead of an absence of a brain.

Some believe, as do I, that God confounded their language because technology was advancing too fast; thus He confounded their tongues to stunt the growth of technology for the next two dispensations.

Had He not done that, then the Jews leaving Egypt would have been facing some pretty hefty armament going home.

But then, not all atheists are scientists.

Not all atheists use their brains either.

I do find it interesting that God broke down the Tower of Babel yet is perfectly content with modern buildings, flight, and even space travel. We are doing a lot more than a bunch of bricks and stones.

According to your opinion.

Had He not done that, then the Jews leaving Egypt would have been facing some pretty hefty armament going home.

If God was with them, why would it matter what armament other cultures had?

+1

Joshua fought the battle of Jericho with musical instruments. I'm sure the opposition was more heavily armed. You lose again, AV.

The story of a person who was swallowed by a whale. Yes; its a good example of why we find the bible, and the religion that depends on it to be without merit or credibility.

Have you wondered why it is that intelligent educated people dont seem to find the whole Christian presentation to be worth serious consideration?

BTW... if you got it just a little bit wrong, and Islam is actually the right faith, then shouldnt you cover your hair? If you dont, you know, god will send you to hell where you will be hung by your hair in a fire for eternity.

Wouldnt it be wise to cover your hair? i dont but then i may not be smart or educated or even have good sense.

Time is short, yes. Way too short to be spending it on nonsense. Im not going to cover my hair. Are you?

You said "We are doing a lot more than a bunch of bricks and stones"

Therefore, my post. Time is short. We are doing a great deal to anger a Holy God, it cannot go on forever.

Random question: Is it a CF joke to make the atheist symbol look like a person with an empty head?
It's all those black thoughts we have, the sadness in our lives, leading to darkness and sickness in our brains.

Well, I gather we lead those kinds of lives and think those kinds of thoughts. I've been told so, by some theists, who apparently know an awful lot more than they appear to know. I remember having similar thoughts as a kid in church. When the preacher tells you that everyone who is not a Christian is sick, living in sin and darkness, away from the light and ultimate joy, then naturally, that's what one thinks. :D

Fortunately not all theists are so silly as to think that they have the strangle-hold on contentment, goodness, happiness, justice, etc. Some still do however.

Regards, Roland

I'm pretty sure that's a brain - which makes it all the more hilarious that it's implied that the atheists are the thinking ones ^_^

There's a Watchmen quote in there somewhere ;)

I suppose now would not be a good time mention iron chariots.....

Yes, they do, for what kind of monster would I be if I never said a word and you perished without any knowledge of your ultimate dilemma.

That is how I feel too! Oh please cover up that hair lest thou be
hung by thine hair in eternal fire. Dont take a chance!

(what is an "ultimate dilemma" btw?)

I get it now. Seriously though, has anybody else noticed how God does less and less throughout the Bible? In Genesis we have creation and the great flood. We have fierce smitings, raising armies from the dead, stopping the sun in the sky, plagues upon Egypt, etc. Then in the NT, he feeds a few thousand, raises a 2 people from the dead, walks on water, etc. Now none of that happens. Why was God so active in the Bible but now he appears not to do anything?

I never thought of it that way. In that case: recant from your evil doctrine of intelligent design or suffer an eternity of stale beer and STD-infected strippers. RECANT! RECANT! RECANT!!!

Just a loving warning from someone who cares.

No, it would be more like:

"I worship a loving God who sends people to hell for not loving him back. You must recant and begin worshiping this great being with the mindset of a two year old unless you want to spend eternal torment in the Lake of Fire."
