Philippians 2:12
Consequently, my beloved ones, just as you have always obeyed, not only during my presence but now much more readily during my absence, keep working out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Note... It does not say.
Consequently, my beloved ones, just as you have always obeyed,
not only during my presence but now much more readily during
my absence, keep working for your salvation with fear
and trembling.
not only during my presence but now much more readily during
my absence, keep working for your salvation with fear
and trembling.
It says we need to work out what we have already been given.
One does not work for gaining what one already has. It says that we need to work it out with what we have possession of.
Its like parents watching their child after getting a new bicycle, seeing him fall off a few times because he still has not developed the right sense of balance needed.
The mother is concerned he will hurt himself, and has second thoughts about the gift.
The father turns to her and tells her... "Don't worry, he needs to work it out."
Likewise. We have been given our salvation. We have our "bicycle." Salvation!
We now need to learn how to work it out IN OUR THINKING to learn balance in the Spirit and in Truth.
Some fear bruises and falling. They demand training wheels, or to go back to a tricycle = religion.
