I am not against instruction or teaching our children. It would be a poor parent that neglected those duties.

But I do not think a Christian upbringing rules out encouraging our children to think for themselves. Failure there is also a dereliction of duty in my view.

IF a Christian couple made the decision NOT to lie to their children and tell them the truth about the 'story' of Santa and not pretend, how do you think Christ would perceive their decision?
Pretty sure that Christ would be fine with that.

It doesn't. I would say the right kind of that is a necessary part of building up a child's faith.

Are you sure you worded that statement right? You "do not think a Christian upbringing rules out encouraging our children to think for themselves. I do not think that it does either. So, we are in agreement on this point.
