• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Wrong forum for this topic. Also, the world will never end. :wave:

technically, yes, the world will end one day as the earth will either spiral into the sun (eventually), or more likely, the sun will go nova and, well, go boom!

But us humans will have probably destroyed ourselves by the time either scenario happens, so I wouldn't worry too much about that.

To be a little cliche about it

Some say the world will end in fire;
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To know that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Personally, I actually go with ice. By that I mean, if we assume world to mean "universe" there have classically been two options. Either the force of gravity from all the mass in the universe overtakes the momentum of the Big Bang, and the universe snaps back in on itself in a really spectacular explosion. That would be pretty cool to see, wouldn't it? Either that, or the momentum will overtake the force of gravity, and the universe will end up spread out so far that it...ceases to be a universe. Ss there is no gravitational "communication" between the various bodies in it, everything just peters out eventually.

Some evidence suggests that the expansion of the universe is actually accelerating. Interesting for a lot of reasons. For the purpose of this discussion, it suggests "ice."

From Wikipedia:

"World is primarily referring to planet Earth, especially when capitalized the World."

If you meant something else, perhaps world as in "the age of man" then you should specify.
