What do you want those of other faiths to know about you when interacting with you?

Life with my God is so wonderful and amazing, I want everyone to experience Him. That's what I want everyone to know when interacting with me. I don't hate your religion, I just want you to try my God and see how awesome He is.

Just wondering

Since there seem to be people of all different faiths and ideas on this chat, how tolerant are we of one another? Do you find it difficult or easy to talk to others who differ in opinion from you? What do you want those of other faiths to know about you when interacting with you?

I think I'm pretty tolerate of other's religious beliefs. I think it's wrong to try and force someone to accept that YOUR way is the ONLY way.

Namaste,

i am tolerant towards all world religions that espouse kindness, compassion and morality. in fact, as a Buddhist, we are encouraged to learn about other religious systems and to understand them. we do not believe that our religion is the only valid/true religion, though there are individuals that may.

personally... i am only intolerant towards intolerance... which is quite funny to say :)

Does evolution fall under religion, because thats one thing I am not very tolerant of, especially when my kids are learning it in school. I dont believe the way they do, and I cant say in a public school, that God created the earth, so why should they teach that the earth is billions of years old and get a way with it? Anyways, other than that, I am as tolerant to other religions as they are with me, including my own.

Namaste jayswife,

no, evolution does not fall under "religion" though there are some types that may view it as such.

Tolerance is such a modern buzzword. How is it people who aren't Christians can believe whatever they like and they are called 'enlightened' and 'tolerant', but Christians who have our own beliefs and opinions are called hate-mongers, bigots, racists, homophobes, whatever you may say. I don't hate anyone. Freedom of expression goes both ways, but to demand that others endure YOUR beliefs is the epitome of intolerance. I once heard someone say that those who are intolerant don't deserve tolerance. What hypocrisy!

I'm not sure what the word "tolerant" means in this context.

1) I am politically tolerant of religions and religious practices, as long as they do not require the violation of anyone's individual rights.

2) I am also tolerant in the sense that I am capable of sitting down and having a pleasant discussion with religious people about religious and philosophical matters over tea and cookies. This is assuming that they are capable of being pleasant with me.

3) I am tolerant in the sense that it is possible for me to make friends with people of different worldviews. Friendship might have some limits since values will differ to some extent, but it is possible.

4) I am tolerant in the sense that I am capable of acknowledging the occasional pearls of wisdom in religions, even while I may have significant disagreements with them over metaphysical issues (such as existence of God, the supernatural, etc.)

Great post..and I agree that this seems the way of the world. But don't forget that the Bible says that the world will be against us..but our Father is for us..and that is all that matters:)

I just want to say that your opinion on the matter above, is so on the money. people are so into being polictally correct that it is a bad thing when you convey an opinion and disagree with another. the usual thing is "I dont think gay marriage is right but others can do". NO they cannot that is why I dont agree with it. Anyway I respect you and am glad you answered it that way

all i can say to this is booohooohooo

you think that christians are being persecuted around the world do you??!

there are people who hate christians
there are people who hate muslims
people who hate jews
budhists
and on and on

if there's a group
there's another one ready to hate it

saying that your particular group is somehow the most targetted an exageration of great proportions.

I would say your slightly overeacting here. Calm down and have a cookie. :D

...however statistically speaking it cant be denied that Christians are in the highest percentages of people persecuted for religious beliefs in the world.
