Nothing. It's just that he didn't imply that love is what led him to Christianity the last time he recounted his conversion. His story seems to have changed somewhat.what's wrong with love?

If you're really all that offended it's weird that you saved the quote. Then joined here just to share it. If you're being for real about being offended then the best way to handle it is to let it go. Don't keep the stuff that offends you, lol. Delete & move on.

I am a new Christian and have an uncle who is a strong Buddhist. He constantly sends our family "philosophical" quotes he believes we need to see. Attached is the most recent. I was very offended by the "invisible God" portion of his quote and would like to get some feedback regarding what is the best way to respond to this in a kind way and also how to express my distaste in him sending offensive things to me. He is quite manipulative and will have a lot to say back, and being new to the world of Christianity I am unsure of how to appropriately deal with this situation. Please advise!
Or just tell him to come to CF to discuss it.........Tell him you disagree with him and he is wasting his time trying to change your mind.
So last night was the Ken Ham and Bill Nye debate on Creationism, and Evolutionism, and if creationism was a viable way of explaining how the Universe was formed. Both men did very well in the debate, and presented their facts well, but nevertheless both sides were flawed. Personally I wish that this debate were not from a Young Earth perspective, but rather just from a creationism stance regardless of old Earth, young Earth, or gap theory. What did you guys think?

Perhaps. I wonder if the OP has tried insulting his uncle, in condescending tones. Or is that what the uncle is doing? It is not a tactic, or a play, or a game to get someone to stop doing something.
A Christian is to love as Christ loves for the sake of the one loved. The uncle may become even more determined to castigate and mock and ridicule. He may never stop, but the Christian is to continue to love all the more.
With man this is impossible.
Unless you disbelieve; then you burn, for reasons beyond your control. With God, it is possible because God loves unconditionally and is Love.

I am fortunate in that this only happens to me in these forums.

The fun part about being comfortable in your view of the world and it's basis, is that you don't get easily offended when someone differs from you, questions you, or even wants to have a discussion about ideas that are different from yours.
In what way did I misrepresent your theology?
Yeah I'm wanting to get to that point cause for real some of the posts on here get my dander up. It's all stuff from other Christians not from atheists, which tbh surprised me cause I had thought it would be the other way round. Irl ppl aren't nearly as irritating though so that's good cause I can always just shut my laptop off. I'll get to the point you're at sometime I'm sure, I just need more time.
What does the license plate in your picture say? It's cut off on my screen. Is it like a vanity plate or is the Kids First Virginia part the main thing you're showing?
Because love is what the Uncle needs. It is what we all need.
The precepts of Christ do sound masochistic and very counter-intuitive. That is why most do not live by them. But for them that do, His teachings are vindicated by the effects produced in one's life. It was the love people had for me and the love I saw in them that drew me to Jesus. Not clever games or tactics or arguments.
A cursory look into the history of mankind replete with wars, geopolitical jockeying for power and prestige and honor
the use of religion as a means of controlling one's fellow man and the use of technology to create mass killing devices and in light of the recent events that have transpired in the world, it would seem the exact opposite is true.
Man on his own, will always tend towards selfishness at the expense of his fellow man.
No amount of learning or enlightenment can change the heart of man.
Knowledge and education, without the fear of God, tends to make man a more clever devil, it has been said.
Time will tell.Everyone needs love, but I'm not sure what that has to do with this situation.
Love is a good way to manipulate people without seeming to have clever games, tactics, or arguments. Unfortunately.
That would be only a cursory look, yes.
Not really, no. That is being stuck in a cherry-picking cursory look.
I think that is too cynical. I'm not saying that people will never act at the expense of others, but it just isn't true that this is the only tendency or motivation that human beings naturally possess.
False, in my experience.
It has been said by cynics with an axe to grind.

We'll remember something of your posts...Time will tell.
