Since 1991, millions of "believers" have been clearly and obviously deceived and led totally astray by that "unmistakable choice" / the so-called "voice of " the holy Spirit they thought or were told they heard.

Thousands of fellowships have observed this, many of them tragically broken because of that.

Yes, Jeff. But this doesn't cancel out the possibility and even necessity of walking in the true leading.

Reading through this thread and a couple thoughts came to mind.

We are called to give a reason for the hope that is in us. We are told to do so with "gentleness and respect" and so we must always be respectful, returning good for evil. Jude even tells us that when Satan and Michael, the arch angel, were disputing over Moses' body, Michael would not speak disrespectful to Satan. We are of Christ, and we must speak "the truth in love."

Another thought is that sometimes, after having done all we can, it is better to shake the dust off our feet and and pursue more fruitful endeavors. Some things are worth fighting for, but when we find ourselves arguing with brick walls, we are wasting our time and energy.

Any who, just some thoughts...

Correct,

remembering the false leading is much more feeling better, agreeable to everyone, and much more common.

Jude even tells us that when Satan and Michael, the arch angel, were disputing over Moses' body, Michael would not speak disrespectful to Satan.

This is an excellent, though obscure scriptural reference, and essentially goes to my point about needing to rely instead on the power of God Himself to deal with situations sometimes, such as with Michael's reply of "The Lord rebuke you." According to one Jewish tradition, the Lord did precisely this, and Satan was forced to flee.

There is online a name for the deceptive spirit , whether it is an accurate name or not I don't know and have not searched out or sought,
but it is basically demonic deception, accepted by / because of feelings and emotions and false teachers and false prophets in charge of millions who are listening to them and trusting them and sending them billions of dollars, or millions of dollars anyway....

Hmm. I do not know about this "person" nor do I listen to these false teachers anyway. I only meant that all one needs to dwell on is God and His ways. He is the One Who created us, so it is only fitting that we go to Him with our every need. He is our Provider, and so much more.

All I ever meant was to know God by reading the Bible and ask Him to know His wisdom, for His thoughts are so much higher than ours. Isaiah 55:8-9, in fact all of Isaiah 55 can be used to answer this thread.

Ugh... The answer for everything. So simple, yet so hard to remember sometimes.

I know, right!? :)

Sometimes, God tells me..... cookies CAN also be a valid answer to most everything.

Really, I just strongly agree with this.
Easy. What does the Holy Spirit say to you, specifically. Obeying God is always the unmistakable choice.

Unless it's blatant heresy according to the Nicene Creed, I don't usually call it false doctrine, just a different opinion or view. When I do encounter it, especially from a professed Christian, I will call them out. If they're not Christian, I don't usually bother unless I think it's a misunderstanding and they have questions.

Jesus commands us not to cast away our pearls.

In many situations on this site you can easily find yourself in an endless debate with someone with a completely hardened heart and a mind closed to wisdom.
It is my opinion that when you find yourself in such a situation, we are commanded by Christ to discern whether any good will come what we post or if we are casting our pearls to unwilling ears.

This does not apply to something like the gospel though, as we are to present the gospel to closed ears or open ears.

So when we find posts on this website, posts maybe we don't think we necessarily should REPORT, how should we respond? Argue, debate, teach,... ? I would like to hear from you.

I don't post quite as prolifically as some on this site, but I have posted sufficiently to have encountered quite a large number of very doctrinally-cockeyed posts. When I do, I challenge them. Wrong, false, confused doctrine dilutes, obscures, and corrupts God's truth. I can't claim to be a follower of Christ the Truth and ignore attempts to overthrow biblical truth. My goal isn't typically to persuade the OP to change their mind and recant their position but to set proper, biblical truth alongside the false or confused things they are espousing with the intent of warning the unwary and/or biblically-ignorant readers of the thread of the falsehoods in play in the OPs views.

I say let the wheat and the tares grow together and let God do the separating at the end. I always am wary of those trying to stamp out "false doctrines," hush the mouths of false teachers or degrade other posters because of their different views. It all reminds me of the conversations the religious had about the blasphemous statements of Christ. The truth stands on its own and is always at the top. So if I have to put down someone elses words or character for my words to ring truth and be on top, I would have to start to rethink my idea of "truth"

Imagine you are reading a post on CF (Not this one, ), and you start reading some strange stuff, stuff that you have never read in the Bible. It may have a nice sound to it, but it just doesn't seem quite right. It might even be "alluring" or looking like an appealing bait, or appetizer. Then you recognize it. You can almost hear the hiss of the serpent in the Garden of Eden. You know now that this is not the voice of the Spirit, or of Jesus (John 10:27). You could easily just stop reading, and move on to another post, or something else, and that might be the appropriate action for some. But these words on this post that is just not quite right, or no where close to right is still there for others to read.
It reminds me of years ago, while working as a security supervisor at a hotel, of occasionally coming across pornographic magazines left in the hallways. Now I could be tempted to look at them, or I could ignore them, or I could just throw them away. But then others might still find them and fall for/to their destructiveness. As a Christian I developed a plan for finding them in the future. "Find it, fold it, and fling it." Find it, and don't look at the cover and be enticed by that, and then want to see more. NO!!! Fold that magazine in half immediately so as not to see the cover. Then don't just throw it away for someone else to find. Take it to the trash compactor and fling it all the way to the back, and push the button to move it to a place where it will become irretrievable (at least by me and others in the hotel.) Now not everyone has access to a trash compactor, but come up with a similar plan for dealing with your own temptations, something that is practical, workable, and effective.
So when we find posts on this website, posts maybe we don't think we necessarily should REPORT, how should we respond? Argue, debate, teach,... ? I would like to hear from you.

I am not so sure you can report a belief that you would personally consider as being wrong or unbiblical. Most threads are for or against a particular Christian doctrine or belief. You cannot report a belief exactly but you can report abusive behavior.

Also, many things that I have come to know in God's Word are strange to most in the world of Christianity. I believe in Conditional Immortality, I believe in Sinless Perfectionism, I believe in New Testament Pacifism, I believe that Jesus made unfermented wine (grape juice) at the wedding at Cana, and I believe that God told Hosea to marry a wife from the people of idolatry (and God did not tell Hosea to marry a prostitute). So should I be reported because I believe this is what the Scriptures say? That doesn't make any sense. I believe I was taught by the Spirit and not by any church or man on these things. I am following God's Word and my conscience. I believe I have come to the conclusion I have by prayer and by comparing Scripture with Scripture over a long period of time in deep study to the best of my abilities (with God guiding me). Should I be condemned for that? Surely not.

Now, if you are suggesting that a Christian here on this forum should hold to more obvious doctrines (to be able to post in the Christian section) like:

(a) They cannot deny the Trinity,
(b) They should not believe in Universalism,

Well, this is something that is left up to the creators of this thread to decide and not us. We do not have control over things like that. So far I have not seen any restrictions on what a Christian can believe here on CF. If there are such restrictions in possessing certain beliefs, I am unaware of them. The restriction is merely behaviorial. If a person is attacking another and insulting them, etc. then that is considered to be a "no," "no." In fact, I agree that it is not good to have such a restriction on bad behavior. There are times people want to attack the person instead of the belief. The attack must be with the Word of God on a person's belief and not by hitting the report button or being cute and smart with them or in attacking their character. God's Word is called the sword of the Spirit for a reason. It is our best weapon against any false doctrine or untruth. That along with prayer, too.

read through the thread it is interesting indeed I feel This is a discussion forum and I feel the best thing to do is just do what you would do in real life. Respond and discuss with the other individual rather report or if you don't agree just ignore.

Yeah you can't "report false doctrine"... that's silly... this is a Christian site with Christians from all different walks in their faith, some who hold to false doctrine.

Just a part of it all.

And as I was sort of trying to say in my recent reply "false doctrine" sort of depends on your beliefs on here

The apostles did not take a "let God sort 'em out" approach to false teaching and teachers. Not only did they warn repeatedly of the presence of false teachers but took pains to delineate correct doctrine and to command believers to reject any teaching that did not stand in accord with what they taught. The Christians to whom the apostles wrote were charged with the responsibility of being disseminators and protectors of God's truth. We bear the same responsibility today.

2 John 1:9-11
9 Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son.
10 If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house nor greet him;
11 for he who greets him shares in his evil deeds.

See 1 Timothy 4

2 Timothy 2:1-2 (NKJV)
1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

Titus 3:8 (NKJV)
8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I want you to affirm constantly, that those who have believed in God should be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable to men.

It is often those whose doctrine is most awry who protest most the preservation of sound doctrine and complain the loudest at the prospect of having their beliefs and teachings challenged.

But we are on a forum with rules that restrict in how we speak and act. If I speak out against certain beliefs here, I can get banned. If I say certain Christians are not saved, I can get banned. So we have to be as innocent as doves and as wise as serpents here (like in every other place we witness in regards to God's truth).

I say let the wheat and the tares grow together and let God do the separating at the end.

This argument raises interesting questions, though. Clearly our Lord did not tolerate the tares among the wheat forever. Inside the churches, there often came a time when judgment would fall on those who were corrupting His church. I could give you a list of probably at least ten different NT passages, but I would start with Revelation 2:20-25. As per my previous posts, I agree with you that merely arguing over matters is more often than not counterproductive, but also as per my posts there should come a time when our Lord moves in some form of judgment, lest the corruption just continue to go on and on forever.

I don't say, "You're not saved." I just post Scripture that makes it clear. I let God's word speak for itself and wait on the Spirit to convict as He will.

Selah.

Here at CF, I strive to speak in a third person way about a wrong belief and distance myself from the person on a personal level (allowing Scripture to convict a person if they are open to it - which is really rare). Outside of CF, I have no such restriction on speaking to a person on a personal level. But I also strive to temper my words with love and kindness, though. For Jesus is into us focusing on love and in being loving.
