To abide in Christ is not to "present your body a living sacrifice".

I never said it was. However you did say it was in post #17 above. So you are contradicting yourself. Which is it?

To abide in Christ is to exist in Christ "spiritually" by being Born again, "in Christ", as "ONE" with God and Christ.

That is not what "abide" means. Abide means to REMAIN. I agree that by being born again I am "IN CHRIST" as one with God and Christ. But THEN... I have to abide. I cannot abide in Montana, because I have never been to Montana. I have to be IN Montana first, THEN I can abide in it.

That is not what "abide" means. Abide means to REMAIN.

There is no...."ok Christ shed His blood for me, so now, all i have to do is not lose my salvation for the next 60 yrs.
"hope for the best".

So, that is not how God's Grace works.
God's Grace is the 'Gift" of "Salvation"....and when you try to replace this gift with "now here is my part, i must DO THIS"....then you have rejected Grace and replaced it with SELF.

So, i can open a New Testament and show you plenty of verses that i could use to try to justify a false theology of God saved me, and now i get to do the rest if i want to go to heaven.
But, why would i do that?
Why would i try to use the bible to deny the "Finished work of Jesus on the Cross", by trying to find a verse i can use to try to prove that i have to do what has already been completed.?

"behold,... salvation is only finished if i promise to be good and abide"
"behold,.... ETENRAL LIFE is only ETERNAL, if i do my part, as God's BLOOD isn't enough, see, let me show you my verses"..

You are to "present your body a living sacrifice".

Are you aware of this?
You are to live the life of a Disciple of Christ.....this means you are to walk in the Spirit, and also allow the Spirit of God to work through you as a vessel of God's love.
Are you aware of this?

Where the Legalism takes over that rejects God's Grace and denies the Cross is when a person is doing all those WORKS to keep themselves saved.

So, if a person believes that they go to heaven IF they do the righteous works you are talking about as their means to get into heaven, then they are either not born again, or they are and are "fallen from Grace" and are now become a self savor.
A self savor is a Legalist.
This is a person who is not trusting in Christ alone to get them into heaven.
This is why they obsess on "works" and "commandments", and self effort.
They are trusting in SELF to get into heaven. They are on the CROSS.
They are trying to keep themselves SAVED by their EFFORT.
= Legalism.
The point of my phrase..."So I guess that obedience to God IS legalism." was an effort to differentiate between those who act like obedience to God is some anti-Christ method of self salvation and those who by the Spirit of God adhere to the doctrine of Godliness.
Our obedience can be labeled anything they like, as long as we remain obedient to the One who gave us life.
If they think that obedience is some wrong thing, let them think this instead...Those who deny the Lord Jesus will perish.
Our salvation IS IN OUR HANDS.
Embrace it or push it away, we will all be judged for what we do here.

Trusting is something we do?, so doesn't that put the "trusters" in the legalist's camp too?

So, a person can name the name of Jesus, cast out devils in Jesus name, work 50 yrs with street orphans trying to "be like Jesus", and then die and go directly to Hell.
Why?
Because they still committed iniquity...as the verse says.[/QUOTE]

There is only one sin that is "Judged" in Heaven.
This judgement is not based your lifestyle or your self effort or whether you were good or bad or indifferent.
One Sin is Judged in heaven, if you have committed it.
This one sin is all that God will evaluate to determine where you end up, after you stop breathing.

Whats that sin?

CHRIST REJECTION. John 3:36

This one sin, unforgiven, determines if you are born again or if you are going to Hell.

So, you will never be judged by God for "sin" on Earth, if you are born again.
Romans 4:8 tells you that God does not charge you for your sin, if you are born again... And why is that? Because God can't judge Christ for your sin, and then judge you for them also.....and He doesn't.
And you will never be judged for your sin of Christ rejection in Heaven, if you have been born again on Earth.

The verse says that Jesus never KNEW THEM.

"Depart from ME, = i never KNEW YOU"..

He does not "know" a Christ rejector = Depart.

He does know everyone who is born again, as He lives IN THEM.

I read through this thread and I get the impression that
you are totally missing the argument being made about
"abiding".

The Bible teaches that those who are regenerated demonstrate
that by producing "fruit"... some thirty-fold, others sixty-fold
and some one hundred-fold.

So sanctification is an EVIDENCE of salvation... I do not see
anybody arguing that repentance produces regeneration, instead
they are arguing that repentance is the RESULT of regeneration.

They are arguing that salvation will RESULT in sanctification.
That sanctification is the "fruit" of salvation.

The only person that I see arguing that WORKS result in
salvation is YOU creating a strawman argument that nobody
has presented.

Reading through the thread it seems (to me) that you are
creating strawman arguments to deflect from the fact that
that real salvation RESULTS in us "abiding" in Him...
or "keeping His Commandments".

1Jn 2:3 -5
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep
his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth
not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God
perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

You are preaching "another gospel" if you teach that
those in hell are paying for the SINGLE SIN of not "accepting"
Jesus. The Bible is very clear the people in hell are paying for
EACH one of their sins... every idle word (even sinful thoughts)

The Legalist teaches that "abiding" is a self effort that a person does to try to replace the Grace of God.

This is why the Legalist falsely teaches that if THEY do not abide, (self effort) they will lose their salvation.
So, this is...."im abiding to keep myself saved, because i dont have any FAITH in Christ to keep me saved". = Legalism.

Hell is not for the redeemed BY the Blood of Lamb, = Born again.

Let's try this "discussion" again.
I will re-post what I already said and then YOU
need to respond to MY WORDS and not construct
another strawman for yourself. Here we go:

The only people found in hell, even those who went there today, are those who did this.

John 3:36. (Christ Rejectors)

"""""""ALL that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."""""

Notice that verse carefully.
THe "wrath of God is on everyone RIGHT NOW, even before they are DEAD,..who have not BELIEVED in Christ and been BORN AGAIN".
They are ALREADY DAMNED.
They are just waiting to die and then Hell will follow.

So you are telling me that the people in hell are NOT paying

Is THAT your "gospel"? You are saying JESUS was lying?

Mat 12:36
But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak,
they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Mat 5:28
But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Gal 1:8-9
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
