How the Mueller Investigation Could Play Out for Trump
Short version:
If Mueller finds
no wrongdoing, he sends his report to Rosenstein, who doesn't have to release it to Congress (but we all know Donald will order him to)
If Mueller
does find wrongdoing, he can:
1. Send it to Rosenstein, who would most likely (unless Donald orders otherwise) send it to Congress, and leave the decision to impeach up to them
2. Send a report to Congress via Rosenstein (see above),
and get a grand jury to label Donald a co-conspirator ("The Nixon Option"), using that process to insure a public record that not even Donald could cover up -- if he were so inclined to...
3. Get an indictment (which the DoJ says cannot be done to a sitting president, but could still be argued in front of SCOTUS)
Forgiving the NYT's paywall, it looks like a pretty succinct breakdown of what could happen...
