How should have Christians historically addressed Islam?

I thank God for keeping me from ever being in a situation where I need to use violence to help myself or others.
And I pray every day that He will keep doing so.
When men depend on their own strength, disaster ensues.

You may someday have the opportunity to face evil that you can stop. Will you act to stop it or will you just let it happen, even the rape and/or beheadding of someone else. Whatchagonnado?

I guess it’s easy to ‘just move away’ when they have burned your village, taken your daughters as sex slaves, and issued the ultimatum to become Muslim or die.

I'm not saying it would be easy.
But moving before an invasion, makes sense to me.

By keeping up one's prayer life, and love of God and neighbor, surprises like that don't happen.

I guess you have never been a refugee. I had that opportunity for a mere month. I would not wish it on anybody.

Your idea to move to France seems naive in the extreme. France is rapidly becoming Islamic. Maybe Hungary or Romania or Uruguay or some place not already going Islamic. Scandinavia and Britain and Germany are also pretty far gone. Choose carefully. And if you live long enough you may get to flee your new home for somewhere else. That is if you have nothing you are willing to defend.

Jesus didn’t even have that type of faith. He asked that the cup pass him by but that did not happen.

Surprises happen. Events happen. It rains on the good and the evil.

And other times it just brings about utter destruction. Especially when the enemy does not share your compassion or values.

But your view is the sort of hopelessly naive perspective I complained about in the opening post. Do you know anything about life in the Middle ages? Do you know anything about military warfare of the era? Why do you think surprise raids didn't exist?

Jesus prayed that a particular cup pass him by. But it didn’t. You are not greater than Jesus.
