How rude. . .

Rudeness is alive and well among us as Christians it seems.

I recieved an e-mail today in regards to prayer requests for my boyfriend. I do NOT think it was anyone on this board, because it came to my "otakuladyCA" address.

Anyway, here is the excerpt. I am not naming any names or accusing anyone, just showing an example of how appallingly rude people can be to their brothers and sisters.

 

TELL YOUR FRIEND TO REPENT AND TURN FROM HIS WICKED WAYS BEFORE A WORSE THING COME UPON HIM..........I SPEAK THESE THINGS THROUGH JESUS NAME AMEN.

I felt as if I had been slapped in the face as I read this, at the end of a basic Word-Faith deliverance prayer.

As far as I know, my boyfriend is one of the most conservative and most spiritual people that I know. Not wicked, nor even close to it.

I have also not stated ANYTHING about him elsewhere other than that he is my boyfriend, where he is, and that he is ill.

This leaves me with the assumption that this "prayer warrior" simply gave me a formulaic prayer, saw my e-mail address and profile and assumed the worst that someone could assume, believes all sickness comes from sin, or any one of the above.

Or maybe she just hates Canadians.

that sucks susan i know weve been through a predicument before but im over it and i want you to know it wasnt me. because besides i couldnt be tha heartless and i know tayler is a very good man, and he's a very spiritual person whoever is doing this must just be yanking your chain.

I know it wasn't you, and it's OK. . .

I just wonder how someone can be so rude and uncaring (the deliverance prayer had "your name" fill in the blanks even) as to do something like this under the veneer of Christian prayer

The only other thing I can presume is she knows what my address means, then assumed from there that he too is an anime and RPG fan (which he is) then assumed from that assumption that we are both the worst that there is (hentais, hackers, spaced-out cosplayers, the whole stereotype that we personally are NOT anything like, and that many fans are not like-it's a stereotype similar to assuming that everyone who is a soccer fan is a drunken hooligan looking for a brawl or a riot

Unfortionately Susan, some people really don't understand the hurt they cause when they do things like this.  I have had the same type of stuff happen to me.  Once, when I was the temporary worship leader at a church I use to attend and had attended for 8 yrs, I received an anomous letter telling me the evils of being a woman in leadership.  ?????

Yeah, it hurt, but I had to brush it off and go on with my life as I knew God was directing it.

That's pretty immature.

I am one that think there is a righteous judgement and an unrighteous judgement which is pre-judgement of a situations.

This certainly is the latter.

Even someone who is righteously giving judgement would never say it in the manner stated.

Aww Susan, try not to take those things personal, and try not to let them get you angry. Just remember to pray for them. I used to see this type of thing quite a bit when I was growing up because my Dad was in wheel chair. It's sad when others immidiatly try and tell someone they are evil or have hidden sins by simply judging someones outward appearance.

I can't tell whether or not it's rude; I can't even figure out what the person must have been thinking. I'd file this in the "kook bin"; assume that the person who sent it is mentally unwell, and pray for their suffering to be eased.

I have to say, any time someone is angry and condemning, and claims to speak for Jesus, I have to think that Jesus seemed pretty comforting to the sinners *He* talked to.

Sadly i've seen this happen too often and I am so sorry it has happened to you. Too often we as Christians forget that we need to speak to one another in love......we are just too quick to judge using scripture as our back up. Let's remember to share the most important thing that the Lord showed us........LOVE one another. God bless u.

Sounds like the guy may be one of the people who thinks bad things only happen to people who haven't repented? I seem to recall you've mentioned similar thoughts (e.g., your thread "are glasses sinful" a while back), so maybe this guy feels that way.

IMHO, he's wrong. God never promised us a rose garden.

Actually, to reveal one fact as to who the sender was, the sender referred to herself as "Sis [name deleted]" so I think she is a so-called
"prophetess" or "prayer warrior."
