How "quia" must one be to still remain "quia"?

Hey Dan.:) What trip? The EO one?

Oh BTW. THis is Radidio
Hey RadMan,

How ya been?

Yea, when this thread popped up, I reread the whole thing. Back in April/May of last year, while this thread was being discussed, I still considered myself a Confessional Lutheran. It feels so long ago, though.

Nice talking to you again Radidio! You too Jim47! I still lurk on occasion.

It's always good to hear form our friends Dan, Rose and ChiRo. I guess we'll never know why, through all our discussions on this forum, the ones that are here are more resolute in defending our beliefs and our friends that went to EO are resolute in their beliefs. God works in wondrous ways. It HAS been a journey.

I do miss the great discussions we had on TCCL. They were very challenging and forced us to dig and learn more.

I have a funny story related to ChiRho first appearing on the forum. He used to irritate the heck out of me. He was like 20 grit sandpaper. And, of course, the other Lutherans were loving him! One day I finally decided I couldn't let this eat me up...for everytime he logged on I could feel my muscles tense up. So I invited him to our Lutheran thread that we had going in the Protestant forum and the rest is history. He was the one who introduced me to confessional Lutheranism.

Lotar has a piece on the death of that CF era on his blog...has anyone read that?

This is fascinating discussion. Thank you.

The issue of the eternal light, and of genuflection intrigues me, because my church has both the light, and the practice of genuflection before stepping up and upon leaving the altar area, and before and after we kneel to receive Communion.

I always assumed it was like Catholic churches I'd attended, where the consecrated wafers were somewhere on the altar, and we were reverancing them. (It always reminded me SCA events, where you were expected to bow to the throne (even if it were empty) to "reverance" the ruler of the kingdom)

So, if there is no tabernacle with consecrated wafers, why do we have a light? And why do we genuflect?

That is how I was taught as well, Synger, and it has nothing to do with the host, but the altar and showing due reverence.

My mind is drawing a blank. I remember reverence in the OT being showed to the sacrificial altar and the Tabernacle but nothing in the NT. Maybe someone can enlighten me on that.

I've been of the opinion that God is in me and every Christian.
