The two simultaneously have a lot in common while being very different. Both share an obsessive nature and tend towards perfectionism. But while OCD is called the doubting disease, people with OCPD are pretty much the opposite. Someone with OCPD almost always thinks they are right and may insist on their viewpoint even with seemingly random, insignificant things.
Because of this, people with OCPD are unlikely to consider anything wrong with their behavior. They are also prone to share their ideas and ways of doing things as if it is the one and only correct way.
"People with OCPD are often perceived as 'control freaks.' "People with OCPD will often criticize or attempt to 'correct' others who are doing a task in a way other than they themselves would do it, even if the other technique is effective or makes no difference to the final result. They do not like to have others suggest different ways of doing things and may react with surprise and anger if this happens."
