You have just mentioned a major problem with the Belgian system, the lack of legal rights.
Huh? I guess I needed to be more clear. Of course you can try and sue for everything, but there just is not the mentality to try and get a six million dollar settlement because a dry cleaner with a 'satisfaction guaranteed' plaque may or may not have misplaced your pants.
What I meant is not that you do not have the option to sue, but that no one will award you a ridiculous amount of money unless some real error was made. Therefor, the doctors do not need to pay insane amounts of malpractice insurance.
For the few people who keep ignoring what I say: government sponsored health care does not have to be horribly inefficient. I am not saying it can not be that, there are countries enough that prove that point. I am saying it can also be wonderful. Now of course you can still object to it on other grounds, because you simply do not believe it should be a task of the government, but since I have experienced a place where it does work, I find it slightly annoying that people seem to think it just can not work.
