It is not going to go on as it is now. Do you not need some meaning for being alive and some hope of destiny other than oblivion? I am not against enjoying life. I am questioning your not needing anything relating to destiny and purpose.

One can derive great pleasure and meaning out of life from family, friends, art, literature, music, science, the pursuit of knowledge and many other areas. Not just this, but one can do these things with greater abundance without attaching a heaven and a hell to their existence.

I actually feel more at peace since I shrugged off a belief in an afterlife; I no longer fear God's wrath and eternal hell. I no longer have that inner turmoil at the end of each night, just before I drift off to sleep, in which I wonder whether I will make it to heaven, whether I have pleased God enough with my life.

Also, the fact remains that whether you believe in a God or not, life is still hard, it's still an often lonely walk, and you will still die (probably painfully) at the end of it. I find it comforting knowing that I will not have to face the monstrous God of the Old Testament when I breath my last.

I do not understand the “Christian” believe you previously had???

I have no “worries” about hell. Since I have been given a “birthright” that includes heaven. A “birthright” cannot be taken away (yes, I could sell it, but that would be my free will decision). I have no question about God keeping His promises since I have been given the indwelling Holy Spirit as a down payment of God keeping His promises.

The solution to hell is not to decide for yourself it does not exist, how would that solve the issue?

Just finished the series, I thought it was brilliant. Many of his experiences are similar to my own, although I have never spoke in tongues.

My philosophy (currently) is as such: religion provides one explanation for experience and existence. There are many others that provide equally opposing arguments. Who is true? What is truth? Certainly the answer to that is: truth is relative as is time. One person can truly believe what another person truly believes the opposite. This is no phenomena in this way of thinking, no absolute truth...only opinion. I choose not to value my life based on opinion, and I feel no remorse for doing so. God, in creating me, wouldn't do so either. He would not punish me for the provocative thinking in which he has guided me to believe.

So, The God of the bible is false because there is no "proof" proofy enough for you to accept, but the god in your head who is guiding you, is defiantly there because he allows you to do and think any way you want... Is he the one who has lead you to this hypocrisy? or was it the youtube video?

-Next question

Does your god punish hypocrites?

If yes, Would you be the one that gets punished for worshiping a god with out the proof you hold the God of the bible to? or is he the one that get punished for not providing you with the exact proof you require from the God of the bible?

The God of the Bible I believe is false because of the perfect puzzle pieces that make Christianity just another world religion, no more evidential than Islam. Again, I do not believe there is a God in my head guiding me, I am simply leveling the playing field again by assuming God on your terms (the God that judges).

Also note that the God you believe in is also completely in your head, unless you can show me otherwise.

You're now once again running away with the tangent that I have my own personal religion I believe in. I am completely aware that the Bible God as I see him is completely different than the Bible God as you see him. I disbelieve in both.

Just wanted to point out to Faulty that you are using scripture to try and undermine an Athiest principle. This is never likely to work. Perhaps you would like to bring some evidence to the table that isn't straight from "the good book" ?
I tried that sometime back on the old General Apologetics board and didn't have much luck quoting from the "good book" either

quote: From what I've seen, LLJ is a bit of a bible-quoting robot. Often he posts things in General Apologetics that are quite off-topic.
At least he doesn't call Atheists deluded unlike most Christians. I think that he's too far gone to be saved at this point.

humblehumility: I tried, unsuccessfully, to continue the conversation that we were having via PM's, but I just received a message telling me that you either have chosen not to receive PM's or are unable to do so. I'm not sure what's up with that, but I just wanted to let you know why you haven't heard back from me. IOW, it's not from lack of effort, but simply because I'm unable to do so. Thanks.

Being a Christian, Jesus promises you will have trouble in this world. Why don't you believe Him?

Don't you know that there aren't shortcuts to UNCONDITIONAL Love and God and eternal life. The more I live the more black and white it really gets.

You will have positive changes in the short run but i PROMISE you they WILL not last. God is the only thing that stands the test of time. God is the answer to EVERY problem and I see that the more and more I live.

You are under false pretenses. You are seeing the devil's reward and not eternal life. I pray you see what God has to OFFER not what he has to inhibit or hold back. That's sad.

bottom line: OF COURSE your getting a benefit for living "the ways of the world" you are living in THE world. it's that plain and simple. it will not last you can mark my words. I'm not here to sugar coat. But God is there to love you if you let Him.
