I'm single probably because I don't want to go thru the trouble associated with relationships and such. I've dated a lot as a youth and had a few longer term relationships. Was married for 10 years.

Maybe in some way we're doing it for the same reason.

I do enjoy friendships though. And I enjoy family company.

I choose to be single. It's not for a religious reason or because I am particularly virtuous. I'm single because I value the peace and contentment I have being single. For many years I felt like I was missing out on something if I wasn't in a relationship. I no longer have that feeling.

I didn't necessarily choose to be single, but have always been very cautious regarding who I date. God also kept me from stepping outside of His will in the past regarding dating, even to the point of bringing someone else into their path before I could pursue something serious.

What I'm looking for regarding dating and marriage has changed over the years as I've matured as well. Companionship is still the greatest desire of my heart, but it takes a lot to impress me / get my attention now. If I meet someone who is godly (but not overly religious or legalistic), has great character and personality, an epic sense of humor, overall has a lot to offer, and is absolutely wild about me, holy crumpets she would be hard to resist. A passionate, affectionate and spiritually mature gal is my kryptonite.

Finding someone like that is difficult, however. There are opportunities for relationships for me even now, but I'm not into playing games; I want something that will last. Plus, I feel like God wants me to establish a stronger, deeper relationship with Him first, before He unveils her to me. I've developed a strong sense of contentment and peace in this season of singleness in recent months.

I'm single too, Miggles. I've been married, and i vowed since leaving that marriage, to never ever be in a serious relationship again. i believe, for me, it's a "gift" of singleness now, for it's a blessing, and peace reigns supreme. I give thanks to God ev'ry day for it. (((hug)))

I'm counted as being a single here on account of not being married, not planning to be for time to come. I've been in a happy relationship with my gal for years. I think it's a misleading name for the section.

It has been my desire, but I do not want to promise anything. I will be single if it be God's will.

I believe God chooses who should never get married. Many people are meant to be single. Paul wrote the lust that causes sexual immoralty (having sex outside of wedock) is why "every man should have his own wife." So if you are not such a man, marriage is unnecessary.

do you trust the Father in Heaven to arrange your life if He chooses to do so and to let you know ?
i.e. GOOD: do not trust man(nor woman).
Also GOOD: Trust the Father, in all things.

What is the prayer rating for ? If not that we are praying for everyone ? Should we just ignore people and not pray for them ?

St. Paul says in Corinthians that taking a wife is a concession we make to avoid immorality, unless we are to live a celibate life. (1 Cor. 11)

Today's family courts and no fault divorce unfortunately makes true Christian marriage a difficult prospect. Along with the present general milieu of casual infidelity, true Christian marriage is under siege from all sides. Some accomplish it, though.

I am open to dating again but I am in no rush to do so. I still have some growing to do and I need to keep getting my life back in order before I can contribute to a romantic relationship.

I originally chose celibacy because at the time I thought I'd be doing God a service and try to earn reward in Heaven. Now that I think about it, it was more likely a fear of intimacy after having a very rough childhood, living with mental illness, and experiencing a couple unhealthy relationships with girls during my teenage years.

Thankfully, I'm in a much better mindset now than before I joined CF and my church. I recognize now that I took the wrong approach in relationships and now I'd like to keep improving myself. There comes a point where I have to stop trying to live up to society's standards and just live my own life within God's laws.

Celibacy and abstinence is a gift from God, if we have the determination to take it.
