ModernDayProphet said:Ebb, I personally do not . I think it goes against the finished work of the cross. As I am " growing " I see that Paul specifically moved away from this as well. Why would we want to go back under the law and be bound by rituals? I think 99% of us can agree that baptism has no saving power, that being said ....why do it ? If you say to identify with the Body of Christ then you are going against the teachings of Paul. We know that as we believe in the death, burial, and resurrection we are placed into the Body of Christ. How much more identification do we need than this ? Paul spent alot of time warning young believers that they needed to be free from the law and not to return to it. The Corinthians had a problem with this as well in chapter 1 and 2 I believe. Some preferred the eloquent speech of Apollos, some preferred the rituals of Peter , and some preferred Paul. Paul specifically told them it was not about their wants or preferances.....it was about Christ. I am rambling...i apologize for that. To the question --no--I do not believe in water baptism . JESUS AND JESUS ALONE !
I myself am non-dispensationalist, and Presbyterian. We believe baptism to be a sacrament ordained by Christ, and a sign and seal of the covenant of grace to be continued until the end of the world.xenia said:Some of you don't?

I've just learned myself that most Mid-Acts dispies do not believe in water baptism.

Ephesians 2:15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;
Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Colossians 2:20 Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,
Water baptism wasnt a SIGN to anyone but the sign NATION. It was REQUIRED of them to demonstrate their faith under THEIR program of times PAST.
The ONLY seal we have as members of His BODY is Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
There is NO mention in scripture of water baptism being ANY "seal" for the Body of Christ...NONE.
We have the ONE baptism of Eph 4:5 and it contains NO water.To water baptize would make TWO baptisms...water is not associated with our baptism as its not associated with many times the word is used in scripture. Its meaning has to do "with being identified with something or someone".
Why would anyone want to ADD to what God has done quite nicely all on His own?![]()
