IIRC a full Baptism/Chrismation/Liturgy will run 2 1/2 to 3 hours in the Slavic tradition.

That should read Excorcsim/Baptism/Christmation/Liturgy. 2 1/2 to 3 hours is right depending on changing time. ;) I had to speed my wife and eldest daughter up in that area a little, IYKWIM.

A baptism/chrismation/first-communion outside of Liturgy will be about one hour. Mine was done in the afternoon, also, outside of vigil. (Except Father did not give me first communion then, he waited until Pascha vigil.)

The fact that it's not during vigil may have to do with the other people who wish to be there--they may be from other parishes or might not be Orthodox at all.

If there's a way to make a service more elongated, a prayer more involved, a fast stricter, or a bow done as deeply as possible... Rest assured the Russians will find a way to do it. :D

I am so happy to be ORTHODOX!

And my church made the Jounal News here in NY with pictures and an article on our Orthodox Holy days!

We're getting the word out!
