I thought it would be interesting to find how long everyone has been a creationist and also what caused them to become one? Here is my story.

I grew up in a home where my mom was Christian and my dad was not. I went to a Christian school which even had books talking about billions of years and I never did understand why my mom got upset at that. I never was saved though during this time. I went to a public high school and was taught evolution and just took it as fact since that's how it was taught to us. I got out of high school and did some very stupid things which I won't go into detail about right now. Finally at age 23 I became saved. It wasn't for atleast a year though before I stumbled on a Creation vs Evolution debate, if memory serves me correct on this very web site. I noticed that in the debate that creationists made some excellent arguements, ones I never heard in high school when I was taught evolution as fact. I did more research and found that out that Bible and science actually did point to creation and a young earth and finally decided to become a creationist. Since then I have watched and listened to many debates and debated my self via e-mail and on message boards several places and have had my stength both in God and his act of creation increased. If your wondering that meant I been a creationists for probably a little over 2 years.

I was not raised in a Christian home. I went to public school, was taught evolution, but I did question most of it in my mind. While had had the right answers to pass my tests, I always wondered, just how DO we "know" that that fossile is a billion years old? I didn't really feel it was relevant to my life anyhow, one of the many things I had to learn in school that I could forget at a future date. I remember being showed a photo of a fetus with points made about the "gill slits" (ears) and "tail" (spine) and couldn't help but wonder, what a fetus looked like before we evolved. It didn't feel right trying to imagine my ancient ancestors as larva let alone apeish bigfoot type creatures. Something wasn't right, but I couldn't put my finger on it. When I did get saved I was already attending church regularly. I felt a strong conviction in my heart to read the bible and believe it. I thought it would be a long hard process, but in no time I learned to let go and let God... at least on this issue. I was probably 23 when I totally completely excepted YEC.

I've been a Creationist probably ever since I became a Christian. I don't remember actually studying about it much. I just always believed that what God said about how He created the universe is true. :)

I think I used to be much of an inter-betweener of the two, creation/evolution. This was before I began to study as much as I can of the Bible. After much study I have come to believe that God created as outlined in Genesis literally.

It is not the matter that God cannot create by evolution, because He can if that is what He chooses. I just believe His Word - all we really have to tell us about God and what He has done for us - tells us differently. I think there is some unreconcilable problems with evolutionary theory/big bang theory that is not inline with God's Word.

God be with us.

I suppose that I have been a creationist now for maybe 10 years. I don't recall hearing anything all that convincing in High School. I remember I had a teacher that showed us the fetus pictures and the supposed gills. It wasn't untill sometime later I read a debate between between a creationist and an evolutionist that the point was raised that they are not gills.

Most of my interest stemmed from my interest in apologetics and the Gospel as history. I was amazed at how credible the Bible was as an historical document and found the arguments against it shallow. Crucial points were ignored and the skeptics allways focused on secondary sources so the whole thing just left me more confident in the Bible then ever.

I got into a number of debates on a board that was focused on politics and I was amazed at the intensity with which they argued. The arguments used were poorly developed and when the subject was banned from there I found my way to CF.
