But that's where your analogy breaks down. The Bible is not a modern account, it's an ancient text. So like the old maps, we should not assume it is word for word accurate.

It is shortsighted to regard the bible as just a 'soul saving' guide. It also deals with here-and-now problems in addition to the hereafter. In other words it's wisdom can save you now as well as later.

I regard the bible as just another religious book of myths and legends. Much like you all religions you don't buy into.

It's not a guide for anything - except to understand the culture that produced it.

It also deals with here-and-now problems in addition to the hereafter. In other words it's wisdom can save you now as well as later.

Every theist of all flavors says that about his religion.
And merely repeating assertions won't justify them.
