And what part did China play?

Think Biden could do better?

Need say no more.

Basically Trump should have trusted the knowledgeable people working under him, telling him it was a real threat.

I am reading in the news here about the protesters getting out and wanting the restrictions lifted so they can have more freedom of movement. Who do they think they are? Do they want the infection and death rate to increase? In our country this would be seen as criminal behaviour and they would be immediately arrested and placed in custody. But then, this is just an example of selfish people who don't care about what happens to anyone else as long as they have their rights.

According to one report, at least some protests were significantly composed of far right pro gun groups. When someone has a strong ideology like that, they don't tend to believe in ordinary news information, but instead tend to believe in conspiracy theories.

But I also heard it reported a poll shows 80% want to continue the stay at home for now.

But a Pew poll shows about 32% worried their states will take too long to open up vs 68% saying instead the concern is they might open up too quickly.

No it's a country of people being lied to, needing to make money for their livelihood, and a country with guaranteed freedoms that the local governments act like doesn't exist. There is no reason for a lockdown more and more it is becoming apparent that lockdown has not nor would have helped. They should have treated people here like Sweden, like adults but not they way overstepped their bounds. Thank God there are still people in this country who still value freedom that other countries will never understand.

This lockdown is literally killing the country financially and any other way you can think of. People that need treatment are not getting it, yet many hospitals are not overcrowded and have shutdown. Millions of people are out of a job, people have started becoming alcoholics again, smoking more than ever and many are starting again, domestic violence is skyrocketing all over. Thankfully sane places like Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee. I pray all the time that God intervenes and opens and help us restore our freedoms again from the hands of Satan

New Zealand has proved that lock down has stopped any community outbreak. All our cases have been linked to overseas travel, including the US. I believe that people who are refusing to keep to social distancing, and are passing on the virus, causing death to people who otherwise would still be alive, are criminals exposing others to grievous bodily harm. That's the attitude of the New Zealand government to those who refuse to comply with our lock down for the sake of asserting their rights to free association.

And America has tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths through community transfer of the virus because of that "freedom", while New Zealand has none - and the only deaths have resulted from transfer of affected people from overseas, including "free" America. So, enjoy your freedom, and hope that the guy next to you is not infected and that he doesn't sneeze on you.

40,000 is not tens of thousands and even though a death is bad out of 32 million plus people is not a whole bunch. People act like death shouldn't happen, we are so sanitized that anything that threatens that and we collectively lose our heads without even thinking. We lose that many every half a month from other random things. The government can't save us, staying in forever can't save us. The truth is nothing can and the longer this shutdown in the USA goes on the worse it will get for even you. When our country economically tanks you will feel it. Right now all kinds of bad things are happening because of the shutdown like domestic violence is on the rise, alcoholism is one the rise, smoking is on the rise, and obesity is on the rise, suicides are on the rise. I even heard the suicide hotlines are very busy.

We are going to have to learn to live with this virus because it's out now and not going away for a very long time. Even my county is saying get out and exercise, they have rescinded the order to close parks, tennis courts, etc because they are seeing bad things that they forgot to factor in when they shut it down 100 percent.

That's what they tried here in Illinois at the start of this outbreak. The Governor urged people not to flood the streets over the St. Patrick's day weekend and crowd into bars. The people of course, gave the officials a rousing "nay nay" and hit the pubs.

To which the governor replied, "If this is the way you're going to respond to a request, I suppose I'll have to make it an order" and put the state on a shelter in place order.

We just heard that a 45 year old New Zealander died in Peru after not being able to get on a flight back to NZ. So, getting out and mixing with people who might be infected even though they may not be displaying symptoms might be like playing Russian roulette. You never know that one virus droplet might get up your nose and your own life might hang in the balance. I wonder how many very sick people in ICU in critical condition not knowing whether they are going to live or die, are saying to themselves, "I should have listened and isolated myself!"

We had a Swedish exchange student for a year live with us. I like Sweden.

As Swedish deaths proportional to their population size from this coronavirus (total deaths from this virus divided by total population) continue to mount -- and that number for Sweden is already higher than in the U.S. -- then they may decide to modify their behavior (even more).

Because the U.S. has so drastically slowed the virus, most people in the U.S. still haven't had someone they know personally -- a personal friend or relative -- die.

Not yet.

We've slowed it so much that there might be time to find a drug that is effective enough to make a difference before many of us have someone close to us personally die from this virus.

Maybe.

We might even get to a vaccine (that's a maybe) before most of us have had someone close to us die from this virus.

But....all of these bodies are temporary anyway -- like wealth, health, fame -- all are fleeting, illusory: Dust to dust.

Worldly things, even worldly freedoms: Dust....to....dust.

It's not like we are going to make these temporary bodies immortal.

But we are not these bodies! :)

Right after I posted here, I got an email from the people that own the building where my office is, saying that someone in their organization that works in that building tested positive. So now I'm having to scramble to get payroll taken care of since I'm not wild about going into the building, especially since they asked us to work from home today if we can.

Basically, that is why you liberals jumped all over the Borders closing in January and you folks made it racist.
