Recently a friend sent me a message, letting me know that NCR.org is looking for Catholic youth to write columns that appear monthly, or something of the sort. He encouraged me to apply.
I don't know anything about NCR. I don't read it regularly, though I've seen articles written by the Reporter pop up every now and again. I thought that maybe if I contributed, I could write some pieces on moral theology (something I love) and how the Church's morals can still stand in a world that wishes to be contrary.
But then someone ELSE emailed me to tell me that the NCR is "liberal garbage".
And now I'm scared to apply, because even though my own personal faith is in crisis, my understanding of Catholic theology is very orthodox. I know theology well and I really wish more people could hear about Catholic moral theology and come to understand it better. I wouldn't want to receive hate mail from anyone for something I wrote... but neither would I want to write for a publication that is known to espouse heterodox or questionable views.
Do any of you have any advice for me? I'm really torn.
