It's only dangerous because it could cause one to lose focus on God himself and instead focus more on the object - the cross. If you're able to distinguish between the two that's fine, if not, it's a sin.

Of course not knowing the difference is scary....

Let me explain what I mean.. My best friend lost both her parents at a young age (car accident) and all she has left is and will be Jesus (Thank God).... Everywhere I look, turn, or go in her home, there's a Holy Cross or a picture/carving of Jesus... Before she leaves her home, she'll go to the Picture at the front door and say "Jesus, please keep me save as I go out of your home." I've asked her what she's doing.. She say's it's her way of always having God with her at all time.. All her thoughts are focused on Jesus... She told me He's all she has left in this world. How do I go to her and say "YOU SINNER".... ?

You just said all her thoughts are focused on Jesus....that's not a sin, in our religion at least. :)

 I'm glad you said this..
This is the same type of concentration I deal with when I pray... I have many images of God which I use to pray, not to any man made object, but to keep my focus on God within everything I do and say.

Thanks for all your help...It was a pleasure chatting with you.

May Jesus continue to shower his blessings upon you!! You are a true devotee!
