I am told that the good news is that God loves me and forgives me for the wrongs I have done.
But what difference should it make to me that God has love in his heart? If God has love in his heart, that may be good news for him, but how is it good news for me? I might be sympathetically happy for him, as I might be if I heard that a famous movie star had a heart of gold -- but why should it be more directly relevant to me? If he hated me, I might pity him and do what I could to help him be rehabilitated, but how could it distress me? Whether, in God's opinion, he loves rather than hates seems to be more properly his private concern and not mine.
I'm finding it hard to get excited about the fact that God forgives me. Please let me know what I'm missing, THX!!!
