Why are you still here? The opposite of 'fixed".
It's worse than just that because
people use the bible to justify all
manner of atrocities.
" Divine right of kings" is a good one
that went on for centuries.
I copied from a dictionary, as you requested. You claimed it means " acknowledge".
It doesnt.
Not really. It says "acknowledge; confess". That is, not just acknowledge, but acknowledge with a twist. As such, I'd say your interlocutor is still wrong.Well. There it is, deep in the synonyms.

Okay; provide this unwritten universal moral principle that says what he did to you was immoralAs I said. You've mistaken me for someone else. Perhaps you weren't listening or paying attention? I haven't said anything about a universal moral standard.....yet. I have said that I think there is an Unwritten Universal Moral Principle.
Apart from having its basis in God, our morality will be subjective and relative. There's nothing wrong with it being subjective since Christianity acknolwedges that the "law" is written in our consciences anyway. The problem is that we easily enough doubt and overide our own consciences, while when that same law is connected to a "bigger" authority than ourselves- the creator of ourselves and all that is- then the basis of our morality is on a different-and much more solid ground.I am not being cute, I honestly don't get it.
I get attacked for saying I think murder is wrong but I don't think murder is objectively wrong.
I am told I cannot really think murder is wrong if I don't think there is a God that objects to murder.
After attacking me the same person will make complaints about the people that "Hate America" and it is clear that someone that
thinks "Atheists cannot really believe murder is wrong because they cannot believe anything" do actually think "Atheists believe America is wrong"
Okay; provide this unwritten universal moral principle that says what he did to you was immoral
No, in the definitions.Well. There it is, deep in the synonyms.

Do you know why you did burn witches and outlaw interracial marriages? Because you had a fixed point of reference…the Bible.Do you know why we don’t burn witches or outlaw interracial marriage? Because we have a fixed point of reference…the Bible.
Yeah, but the millions of Christians who took part in all that weren't REAL Christians.Do you know why you did burn witches and outlaw interracial marriages? Because you had a fixed point of reference…the Bible.
Do you think your Christian worldview is the same as the majority of worldviews Christians had 5 generations ago? How about Christians 5 generations from now?I guess if that happens, we are left with your worldview that can change at any time. I don’t have that problem.
Ahh... so when pressed to defend your absurd position, you would rather run away with your tail between your leg? Yeah.......I'm not surprised; I've seen it before....................................... enjoy your "Law of the Jungle" mode of interpreting the social world in which we live. I shan't be joining you in it.
I understand that. The point is, because the fixed point didn’t change, we were able to see where others failed and to say they were wrong. You can’t say they were wrong. All you can say is that you don’t like it.Do you know why you did burn witches and outlaw interracial marriages? Because you had a fixed point of reference…the Bible.
Right now, probably not because the church has let secular thought in. However, I think it will change.Do you think your Christian worldview is the same as the majority of worldviews Christians had 5 generations ago? How about Christians 5 generations from now?
So the bible says to do it. Then the bible says not to do it. And in some wierd way you say that's a 'fixed point'. It literally goes from one position to another that is diametrically opposite.I understand that. The point is, because the fixed point didn’t change, we were able to see where others failed and to say they were wrong. You can’t say they were wrong. All you can say is that you don’t like it.
Sounds to me like the Christian point of reference isn't all that fixed either.Right now, probably not because the church has let secular thought in. However, I think it will change.

It is a fixed point because there are reasons for the differing views. It’s important to understand the whole thing, and not just pick a line here or there to try to advance your view, like you did.So the bible says to do it. Then the bible says not to do it. And in some wierd way you say that's a 'fixed point'. It literally goes from one position to another that is diametrically opposite.
It’s fixed, just like the elephant in the parable about the six blind men.Sounds to me like the Christian point of reference isn't all that fixed either.
That’s a wrong assessment.Let me see if I've got this straight. God established a fixed point for right and wrong, but then He gave Christians a free pass to violate that fixed point. Sounds a bit like something Trump would do, grant amnesty to anyone who does what he asks, while condemning everybody else for doing the exact same thing.
