A change of will. It requires change of mind, heart, and ways that are of yourself, towards the things of God, the heart of God, and the ways of God. In result, your will changes to God's will, God's will become the driving force. Given that's not an enate desire, we kill those temptations daily.
A Biblical METANOIA is a true turning from sin and a turning to God in faith. :)

Repentance = change mind
So when the Bible says to repent, it can't be about sin, unless we think sin is good, then we should repent concerning that.
But if we already see sin as evil we should not change our mind about sin.
We should change from dependence on self to dependence on Jesus Christ for our salvation.
A believer should repent if he has bad doctrine. He should change his mind about that.
For instance if a believer thinks that God doesn't love him with everything He has, that believer should repent from that belief.
