Ok, to address a couple of issues....

So, you are admitting that Martin Luther held to a false doctrine and misinterpretation, so is it not entirely plausible that he misinterpreted other doctrines he clung to as well? As a fallable man, could his beliefs and own personal thoughts influenced his translating and what he felt the scriptures meant? Many scholars have read, studied, and aligned beliefs 100% to scripture that differ from Martin Luther.

So what??

I don't even understand what you are critizing me for other then agreeing with Luther on 98% of doctrine? You know I didn't just blindly read Luther and decided that I agreed with him. In all time time of considering and thinking about doctrine it involved a bible checking scripture references, reading counter-arguments and checking those scripture references, then further reading into doctrinal statements. I've put a lot of research into what I belive Coach. But you make me out into some Luther zombie.

And I agree, not everyone is called to be a teacher (not the job profession, but teaching gospel) by Christ. But what does that have to do with the claim only intelligent well schooled scholars are worthy of teaching and preaching the Word of God? Some of the most powerful preachers of our time are raw, passionate believers in Christ. If it was all about intelligence, Harvard would be the mecca of Biblical scholars.

Its not about intelligence its about having a background and understanding of the scripture. Intelligence and education are not the same as you know.

For example I saw something on TV where a guy who was a doctor by profession was elected pastor at his church. Now this is obviously a very smart guy, he's a doctor. But he can't read greek or hebrew and there is nothing in his background to indicate that he has any formal theological education. In fact by all standards I'm more educated then he is because I have had formal theological classes. (I have 6 college credits of theology).

There is no way of establishing exactly what that person knows or has the ability to teach. People in those positions shouldn't be selected haphazardly.

To take it down a level, I've seen Sunday school teachers who where selected haphazardly myself. And it was sad because one of these teachers had to ask me if Jesus's crusifixion happened in the old testament or the new testament. Now this was a very spiritual and driven person, I have no doubt she had great faith and she was very passionate.

But that passion did not by itself qualify her as a teacher of God's word to even children.

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen too many in the singles forums with Calvinist tags... Wonder why that is?

Usually they have presbyterian tags but I agree they seem slightly under represented.

Another group that is pretty underrepresented here from my experience is Anabaptists. While the Amish wouldn't be here as they are the most famous of the anabaptists, I think Mennonites can still use any technology they feel like and they are very much anabaptists.

The Luther, the "so what" is simple. Lots of people but hours and time into their research of what doctrine to believe. Mormons do it. JWs do it. The list goes on and on. The point is, just because you researched it and agreed with it does not make it infallable and 100% true. So, acting like you have all the truth and everything else is lies and heresy or people are not worthy to communion with you is pretty silly.

I also fail to see where all this training and education is necessary to preach God to others. What about those people that missionaries reach out to, they hear the Word and read the Word, and they go out and preach the Gospel of Jesus. They don't need fancy schools or years of formal education. They need the Holy Spirit and passion for Jesus Christ.

The education aspect to make someone an expert is NOT needed in order to have a relationship with Christ and to preach Christ to others. It is only needed to preserve and continue passing down religion and man-made doctrine. It is needed to pass along a man's interpretation and thoughts on the Bible... it is NOT needed for the Holy Spirit to open one's heart to the Gospel and discern all things to that person.

That is correct, Mennonites can and are encouraged to use technology and to further themselves through higher education. I used to live in Lancaster, PA...HUGE mennonite population!

Ahh you probably have some Amish too.

There is a pretty big Amish population in an area about 45 minutes from here.
