What if somebody stated, I just do not want to be around fundamentalist Christians...I just dislike them, but I do not hate them??

Then I would take them at their word thatthey disliked fundamentalist Christians. Doesn't mean that they hate them. I dislike Muslim doctrine. That doesn't mean that I hate Muslims.

I don't care for fundamentalist Christian doctrine but that doesn't mean I would not enjoy a fundamentalist's company...

But that's my point. Just because folks don't want to spend time around certain people doesn't mean that they hate them.

Folks just tend to toss around the word "hate" the same way they do "racist" because it draws people in to support their viewpoint cause nobody hates a racist or someone who hates someone else.

I've met plenty of gay folks who can't stand being around straight folk and all their straight ways. But that doesn't mean they hate straight people.

I said that he hates them because those are the exact words that came from his mouth. Whether or not he truly hates them...I do not know...so I just have to take him at his word.

4 - Your score rates you as "high-grade non-homophobic."

Not a surprise from me I suppose.

Personally:- I'd rate pretty much anyone who was opposed to gay marriage as homophobic as I just consider it highly irrational and immoral to trample on the rights of others. However, I don't think this in itself equates to "hate", the people who come here calling gay people child molesters, and lie about AIDS etc.. are the ones who hate gay people, the rest just merely oppose it.

I don't know if I can call someone who is say a devout Catholic or Baptist etc. who states marriage is between one woman and one man...as homophobic.

I myself believe gay marriage should be allowed however...

I wonder if there is anyone worse than me for being "homophobic".

Mine was 64, and I did not even agree with hurting gay people, damaging their cars, or even joking about them.

For me being homophobic has a lot more to do than just my beliefs, and I had my beliefs before the situation occurred that I will write below.

When I was in 6th-9th grade, I was being bullied on the school bus by a very large high school kid that was at least 60 pounds heavier than me and 8-10 inches taller. However, I did not get bullied in the normal sense. He acted gay with me, and tried grabbing my butt, and putting his arm around me, and even trying to kiss me. The other kids on the bus just laughed at it all. I wanted to kill him every single day!

Eventually as I started lifting weights, and became a lot stronger than before, I finally fought him one day on the bus. It was a complete mismatch, and I was lucky to not get demolished because he still was a lot larger than me. Luckily the bus driver stopped the fight. However, he finally stopped picking on me (he was a senior in high school by this time), and I never had to get into a fight again. This is the main reason I am uncomfortable around gay people, and do not like the lifestyle.

Please note that I had my beliefs in Christianity before this started happening. These repeated incidents did not change my feelings about "right and wrong". It just changed how "homophobic" I am.

I don't think this is bullying so much as sexual harrassment.

I once got beaten up by a big black kid by the name of Malcolm (true!). Since then I feel uncomfortable around black people called Malcolm (fortunately not too many by that name these days) and I do not like the lifestyles of black people who are called Malcolm (not so true!).
