Hello!

Months before the first Gulf War, I had a dream that still remains with me till this day. It was an encouragement at the time I awakened, and it became an encouragement throughout the events of the next year, and beyond. I basicly saw myself in a desert. I was walking as if lost in the middle of nowhere. I looked up and saw an enormous boulder falling toward me. It seemed to envelope the sky. I was beneath its shadow, and it was coming down fast. I thought for sure I would be crushed to pieces. In fact, I bowed down to one knee and prayed a simple prayer: "Glory to God!"

As I said the first two syllables of that prayer, I remained in the desert. As I finished the second syllable and spoke His name, I found myself in the throne room of Heaven. I felt the ecstasy of being in His presence, of worshipping... It was an amazing experience of delight and much more.

I opened my eyes to find myself back in the desert. The city-sized boulder had landed beside me. It was smaller, much much smaller--the size of a Volkswagon bug. I looked up, however, and saw another boulder coming down toward me. Again I felt threatened, and again I fell to my knees in prayer. And each time, I would open my eyes to see the boulder had landed around me, but not on me.

This continued until there was a circle of these boulders. There was one more spot for a boulder to land which was right where my legs were positioned. It seemed for sure that my legs would be crushed. But to my surprise, the boulder landed not on my legs, but on the boulder to the right and to the left--my legs safe beneath.

When Iraq invaded Kuwait, I knew we were going there. And every time I found myself in an uncertain situation where my life was in danger, I remembered that dream. It was so vivid and powerful.

As the years have passed, I see that dream as a dream for all of my life. So many times I have been nearly to the point of being crushed by life and by my own mistakes. Yet there has always been on my tongue the words (from my heart), "Glory to God!"

Hope this testimony blesses someone out there!

God's Spirit rest upon each of you, nothing more, nothing less!

My normal dreams help me get a grip. When I look back at how wired I am about a situation (evident in my dreams), it becomes clearer that I don't need to be. It sort of puts it into a movie/media category for me, like I can step outside fo my dramas, put them behind me, and I can just move forward.

I have had many daytime vision-like impressions that have helped me, but my dreams tend to be either normal expressions of emotion, or calls to intercede for something I'm not involved in. So they haven't directly helped me in the sense of God speaking out the next move.

But I think if we're in tune with God during the day, He'll give us glimpses of things that will be useful for the next step. If we get too busy or cluttered to hear, then He'll slow us down and catch us other ways, like when we're asleep.

In the Bible, the dreams that believers had involved momentous decisions, ones where they'd need more empowerment or confidence.

The dreams that needed interpretation came to nonbelievers, who wouldn't have been listening for the voice of God, or praying for understanding. They leapt outward to people for clarity.

Examples of vision-like impressions. Sometimes God lets me know when someone close is on their last few days of life. It helps me prepare emotionally, remind others go go visit, and keep my week in order. The visual is usually only half of the sensation, or less. It is more a knowing. And I believe that knowing carries over into dreams for some people.

In what ways have dreams help you in your daily life? can you recall a time were a dream help you deal with a situation or an problem in your life?

I have had dreams warn me of an impending event... without enough information to go on, but after the event, it was clearly a message to me that God is in control and nothing escapes His eyes.

I have had a dream indicating performance on minor events, showing me how successes and failures of my own are already indicated, and that it is okay to succeed and also okay to fail.

I have had dreams of trivial events which later came true (often the next day), which has helped teach me God is in control of things minute and massive, unimportant and critical alike... and has foreknowledge of things small and mighty.

In the end, I suppose these things help train me for helping others in my general desire... in the burden the Lord has put upon my heart... such as for Christians in totalitarian countries... where I find all fleshly tools lacking, where I find all fleshly roads ending. It trains me to consider not the likely, nor the possible, but to count on the impossible, because with God nothing is impossible. Indeed, such love is a burden, such hope is a burden, because it itself does not stop because something is impossible, but it goes on even in the face of that very "impossibility".

I was reading about joseph's dream when the angel came to him. to tell him to take mary as his wife. joseph had strongly decided that he was going to divoice her quietly. but his dream helped him to sort the issue out. I just thought that was so unique how important dreams can be.

Dreams are an important way God can speak to us and tell us things we otherwise wouldn't be able to hear. They are a step down, in a sense, from visions. My impression it is far easier and more common to get from God a dream, then a vision. This is a goal of seeking, for me, anyway... there's always a chance when seeking that God will respond by dream. Sometimes, however, it is by events, or simply by some insight we find we have been missing all along. Often times, it is through another Christian.
