Numbers 12:
6 Then He said, Hear now My words:
If there is a prophet among you,
I, the Lord, make Myself known to him in a vision;
I speak to him in a dream.
7 Not so with My servant Moses;
He is faithful in all My house.
8 I speak with him face to face,

Even plainly, and not in dark sayings;
And he sees the similitude of the Lord.
Why then were you not afraid
To speak against My servant Moses?

What does this expression ‘face to face' convey to us?

Exodus 33:11 So the Lord spoke to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. And he would return to the camp, but his servant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, did not depart from the tabernacle.

The Lord Speaks To Those Who Give Him Their Undivided Attention.
As it is written:
Mark 12:29 Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is: Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. This is the first commandment.

Dreams and Visions fall short of God’s Word and are unreliable.
Jeremiah 23:25-29 I have heard what the prophets have said, that prophesy lies in My name, saying, ‘I have dreamed, I have dreamed!’ How long will this be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? Indeed they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart, who try to make My people forget My name by their dreams which everyone tells his neighbor, as their fathers forgot My name for Baal. The prophet who has a dream, let him tell a dream; and he who has My word, let him speak My word faithfully.
What is the chaff to the wheat?” says the Lord.“Is not My word like a fire?” says the Lord,
“And like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?

Prophetic dreams and visions must be verified by fulfillment to establish that prophet. The word may be cautionary, but to act on the information rather than seek the Lord for a confirmation will result in people hearing what they want and doing what they want.
This can result in a death sentence for the prophet, and possibly those who follow. Dreams and Visions should be treated as private, not for self-promotion.
