Hey I would just like to know how God has helped you, intervened, given you strength in anything that has happened in your lives? Does he actually make things happen or does the confidence and belief that he is there and loves you, help you succeed and get over problems in your life?

Does god help non believers, people who have been misguided.

I am just on a break from work, eating corn. Thought I would leave you a link to a website I recently made that has a long list of my personal stories of God helping me personally, i.e. telling me who to marry, helping me at work, helping my non christian clients, saving a man from terrorists, and lots of other things. I know he helps people in all the ways you mentioned. The site is http://www.futureandahope.net

Praying God blesses you.

Both, really.
Knowing He is there through problems helps much and although timing does not always align perfectly, I know it is to His will.
Many problems have also been solved through coincidences that are really remarkable and ones I attribute to God answering prayers.
Also, my mother had what I considered a medical miracle and I have a medical history of my own that has left me.
The answers are not always immediate or obvious to others, but sometimes they are as well.

Ill give you my most recent experience.

A couple of months ago I left work to care for my two children. We now have less money and cannot afford to run the two cars we have. We had discussed how we would get rid of our small car, which is in a better condition that the big car. Well we have advertised it on a couple of websites and stuck a For Sale sign in the back windows, but no one has of yet wanted to buy it.

So last week I was cleaning my house up, and praying and asking God to sort out our problem with selling the car. Not one hour later someone crashed into our big car, writing it off.

Now that seems a bit bad doesnt it? The car we were going to keep is now a pile of junk. But actually it has done us a favour - we will get the insurance money soon and can trade in our small car for a slightly bigger and newer car than the one we we were going to keep.

Our Father answers prayer:)

So god made somebody have an accident, costing them money to benefit you? hmmmmm could it just be a coincidence?

Yes God does help us and often in ways we don't expect.

A fairly recent example: Due to our family (husband is a soldier) being posted in very remote places I was unable to attend a church I would be comfortable in for several years. Towards the end of last year when he found he was being posted to a capital city (yay!) I prayed that we would get our defence house near a church as I don't drive. We ended up getting a house just two streets away from the local Baptist church, where I felt at home immediately, finally got baptised in February and have been attending a women's Bible study that has helped me a lot personally.

The reason why getting this exact house is out of the ordinary that my husband's base is over half an hour away. The policy is that soldiers have to live a certain distance from their base but no defence houses vacancies in the area ever came on that defence house website for us. He was annoyed later when he found out that there had been a few that he wasn't ever told about even when he had phoned the department trying to find out what was going on. Inwardly I smile of course. God knew that I needed "family" support more.

If you believe in coincidence yes it could have been, but I believe that God works through lots of different situations, good and bad.

In the bible it says "All things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to his good will and purpose."

I could have told you about the time I had a miscarriage and how God worked with me through that, its just that this is my most recent experience:)

I'll try to be as brief as I can about a long story........

I was seriously addicted to drugs. I mean I was about to die soon. I had Overdosed a couple times and I was getting worse. I was considering suicide as my many attempt at "treatment" had failed and I believed there was something in me that would never allow me to quit.

I picked up a Bible I had in a box of books that was sitting open in my eyesight and I thought "Maybe I should read something from the Bible before I blow my head off" so I set the gun down and picked up the Bible. I turned to Ephisians because I heard it sigghted in a song I though was cool. I just turned it to the beginning and stared skimming. Nothing jumped out at me until Chapter 2 and it read:

1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, 3 among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, 5 even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), 6 and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

When I finished this section I was sobbing uncontrolably so I could no longer even read the words.

I realized people have been dealing with doing things for "the flesh" and hurting themselves for pleasure for thousands of years.
I also realized that according to this book, I have already been saved from this fate. IT'S ALREADY DONE. All I have to do is know the work is done and live the life that has already been prepaired for me since before the beginning of time.

WHen I accepted that, Getting off drugs was a no-brainer. I went and got support and when things got hard, I would read the Bible until I felt better. I would always find encouragement or something in there somebody did that was just like what I was going through and they got throught it by giving it to God.

I don't know exactly how to explain it but it is almost like the act of seeking God is what gives me the feelings of grace and gratitude that I love. I mean real gratitude when you just sit there in this wonderful feeling that you can get from no drug just happy to be alive for another 5 minutes to witness the miracle that is a human life. The act of searching for it seems to be what brings it about. So I'm not one of those Bible thumping Christ way or to Hell you go. It's just what spoke to me and it is where I get my spiritual food from. Seek and you will find. Ask and you will receive. Knock and the door will be opened unto you.

SEEKING knowledge of God literally saved my life and so I continue to seek that knowledge and my life keeps getting richer and richer. It's how I end up here. to commune with people seeking God and we can seek together. I can learn from you and you can learn from me, all in the name of seeking a higher power for our life's direction

PEACE- From a hardcore heroin addict to a Christian overnight. Almost died 3 times. I was born to do better so now I do better.

Does god help non believers, people who have been misguided.

Hiya

I am a new christian, and also as a non believer did ask god for things. So I can answer as far as my experience goes.

1: does he help you or make things happen? Yes

2: for non believers? Not so much in my experience. But I do think he was there looking out for me while I was a non believer and making things happen that eventually lead to me becoming a Christian. So if you have been finding that you are thinking about this (which obviously you are or you wouldn’t be here) and maybe have met Christians etc., or been approached, but don’t feel ready to make that decision at the moment, then chances are it is because god is looking out for you and wants to bring you to him.

But...

I did not find that my prayers were answered in anything LIKE the way they are now. Much of what God does for me now is not exactly critical, its things like finding my car keys for me when I can’t (which prior to becoming Christian was every day) and there are lots of other things that I need help with (but won’t die without) or just stuff that makes life easier, that god does for me now which he did not when I was not a Christian (though I prolly didn’t ask either)

But I do think that he had me in his sights and was looking out for me, so while I was not going to get my own whims answered as a non-christian, he had a plan for me, and would not have let anything interfere with that.

What I mean is that say you were about to walk in front of a bus and god had a plan which included you, then he would make things happen to prevent you walking in front of the bus (maybe things you never know like a friend comes along and says hello as you are about to cross the set so you don’t - therefore bus does not hit you) or to prevent the bus hitting you.
But he might not help you find your handbag or get a park when you are running late.

However, when you are saved - it’s a whole different ball game, in my experience. I went into it like, ok why not - don’t really think it will work, and right after ok don’t feel any different, then bam, god let me know he was there

Since then my life has been a series of coincidences that are just TOO coincidental

Where I would ask questions and not get an answer (or if I did not hear it before) I now ask and get answers, in the most uncanny ways
I can ask god for help with all sorts of random petty things and he is there, My questions are answered and I know I am not alone

Also as many others can probably also tell you, there is a peace that you get as soon as you give your life, I think its the actual physical lifting of all the sin.

I think God gave me a message about how that works the other day and I have posted it somewhere in these forums.

Anyway I have had god answer prayers ranging from starting my car when it would not (and the battery was flat), salvaging data off a corrupted extgernal hard drive (I work in IT and know how to fix this sort of thing and I was sure the data was unsalvageable - and asked as a last resort), healed medical issues, answered my questions before I finished asking them, lead my church to me (not me to them, they found me via treasure hunting clues which were about me) and many many other things

I dont know whether it is that before I was a christian, having not invited Jesus in, I was unable to hear or feel or experience his gifts, or whether they are not given to the unsaved, but while I think god will look out for you while you are not a christian, and answer some prayers, it is no comparison to the 'personal service' (LOL) that you get as a christian.

I didnt want to do the whole christian thing for so long because I did not want to give up the fun things in life - I hoped I could just before I died do it then - so I could avoid hell but not be stuck being all christian and religoius before Id been done having fun.

But I can honestly say that life is better as a christian than before hand, I have not given up anything I enjoy, and even if there were no heaven or hell, Id still do it, for the quality of life its given me.

So in terms of prayers, yes he may answer them, (prolly more on the big serious stuff) or he may not, or he may take AGES and you think he didnt - I asked god to reveal himself to me for about 2 years before he did

But the experience of god I had when I was not a christian, is simply not comparable to what it is now. Now its like he is always there, and I know that no matter what happens in my life, I will never feel alone again in the ways I have done as a non christian.

I dont know what your prayer is, but I hope that you might also ask god, to reveal himself to you, or to lead you to more signs and evidence that he is real, so one day you will be able to accept him. If you believe in him enough to ask about prayers to him, then I am sure that if you realised he was real, you would want to know more about him personally. Maybe my prayer for you will be that he will answer your need that you had in mind when writing this, in a way that makes it clear to you that he is real. Then from there you can decide what you want to do next.

Odd thing is I avoided it for so long (becomming a christian), like it was this big thing, then when you do it, its a bit like I dunno, maybe the first time you go on the baby roller coaster, - looks scary and afterward you go, that was so easy and so much fun, why didnt I go on it when I got here, then I could have gone on it again over and over all day, or gone on the bigger roller coasters as well. Anyway becomming a christian is so so so sooo pathetically EASY, and its all win, you get all this good stuff and nothing bad. Now I cant believe I resisted the idea for so long.

maybe I am still in the 'honeymoon period', but I have yet to experience all the sacrifice and so on that christians are meant to have to endure. Its all been good so far, nothing given up except stuff that even as a non christian I wanted gone. Even if I do get asked to endure more than I have so far (which is like...nothing) I would not have any 2nd thoughts about doing so, nothing can compare with knowing that [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse], there really IS something out there much bigger and mor majestic than anything we can see....

(ok that answer was waaay more than you asked for - sorry - got into a rythym and didnt want to stop!)

Anyway moral of the story, if you are here, then chances are god is going to answer your prayers and look out for you at least as far as keeping you alive and healthy till you get to the point where you commit to him.

But for 24/7 service on almost any random thing, you need to ask him to come into your life and sort everything out for you. And he will do that in a way that does not leave you feeling deprived or unable to cope.

Here is a new one. My uncle went in Tuesday for another double by-pass, last Tuesday. He has been in poor health for a while. in addition to the first double by-pass he had a stroke some years back and has been paralyzed on His left side. He went in complaining of chest pains last Saturday, and they found that he needed more surgery.

Like I said they did all of the surgery last Tuesday, and when he was in recovery he had another stroke. At first they thought he was having a reaction to the meds, 4 days later they tested him and confirmed the stroke. This was bad because now he was paralyzed on both sides and could not speak or move. The Neurologist told my father that He will never be able to live without 24 hour care let alone speak again. So Saturday night we came together and prayed for Him and He woke up Sunday morning as He was before the operation.

He spent 4 days completely paralyzed and we have an MRI showing the "dead areas" of his brain, and now we have some that they have been regenerated. The Neurologist said this is a documented miracle. He also said he should not be able to speak at all because the speech center is still "dead." But he speaks. He also said that because this is a 1 in 10 million occurrence the medical community at large will dismiss it. As far as He and his 25 years of experience is concerned, He said witnessed a miracle.

That is quite something, I wish your uncle well :)
