Not everyone feels that way. and not everyone needs as long as you do to get to know someone. and the reality is that you even after a year you still won't know someone that well. or 2 years. or 10 years. it's an excuse that people make to not marry after 2 years or 3...4...5... etc.
for some people, 6 months is enough time to get to know someone. maybe not for you. maybe not for everyone. but it is for some people.

I am a nurse. I feel comfortable talking to four year old boys, 15 year old boys, 22 year old men, 42 year old men, and 92 year old men. They all talk to me...and usually I know quite about them fairly fast...more than just what I have to know to take care of them. When I dated a guy from my current state, my cousin said she always assumed I'd marry a rancher after my husband died. That is what other people think about me. Yes, I do tend to like a certain kind of man ... but I have dated outside that personality type. But we all have a preferred personality that we are attracted to.
