Well, I suppose if I wanted to, I could review all 13 pages and find some examples of circular reasoning and some examples of indicators of mental illness/psychological isues.

Because you made a less than flattering claim about the conduct of certain members in this thread. When I ask you to back it up you just back peddle. Now when I further question you, you just make a joke about my height or at least the insecurity I have with it.

It's not a deep insult, although it's frustrating that's the response I get when I question someone's already negative assessment of my posts in this thread and they cannot back up their claims and decided to go for a cheap insult instead.

nah. If she wants to believe she is good at reading most people... let her have it. I know people like that, and... there is no helping them.

Not saying she is exactly like this. But these tend to be the people who like to fix people up and it never works out... And they are arrogant about it. That's where my issue comes from...

If I was single, I would not consider dating someone, who has more than 25 years, right now. No, beyond that, that is much too old, for me, right now. I do not think it would be inappropriate, for someone in their late 60s, to be dating someone in their early 50s, as by then, the age difference will not matter so much. If someone has a proper professional job, good footing in it, after 25, then I think, dating someone older, they will have more in common. By 27, yes, most people will have their university finished, or nearly so, and a good professional job. They will have more in common, with young adults, for dating. Perhaps, up to the early 40s.

My brother is getting married to a significantly younger woman and I wonder just how badly they are going to get judged for it. He is 41 and she is 25.

I'd post their picture for clarification of how far apart in age they appear, but he is a detective and works drug cases undercover occasionally. No pictures, LOL. My brother has been bald since he was 21 and now has a shaved head with a full beard with lots of gray. I'm 7 years older than him and people think I'm the younger brother...

A little background... He lives 15 miles from me. As many of you know, I am a constant complainer regarding the lack of single women in my age group around here (sorry about that).

When I lived in AZ and my brother lived up here, he would complain about not being able to find a girlfriend. I blew his concerns off since he was 34 at the time, a big handsome cop with a nice house, and in shape with a great personality. How could HE not meet anyone??

Then I moved here after my divorce and realized that the struggle is real...

Then, about a year ago, he told me there was this girl working in the prosecutor's office that was flirting with him and sending him Facebook requests. He said she looks young, but guessed she was in her late 20's.

They went out a couple of times and really fell for each other. Then he found out she was only 24. She was 5 months younger than my son's girlfriend.

But they got along great and a year later, she is pregnant and the wedding date is set.

Sadly, neither of them are Christians. My brother calls himself a Christian, but hasn't gone to church with me in a couple of years. This is his second marriage. First woman was bi-polar and ran off to become a prostitute. She was the daughter of the local sheriff. Long story...

So, with a 16yr age difference, How harshly do you think they are going to be judged? Do you think it will make the marriage more difficult?

I'm pretty sure they don't care what people think. Both families are completely behind the relationship and her family is a salt-of-the earth Christian blue-collar family. Great people.

I personally think they'll be OK, despite the much less than optimal situation...

Well I am 25 and it disturbs and angers me personally, but it's their life. I get annoyed by older men who date women my age. It's like find someone your own age. When I'm old they probably ignore me to chase girls half my age. Personally it's sexist and borderline pedophile to me when men do that it disturbs me. Especially because of the double standard, older women dating young men isn't looked on quiet as nice but men do whatever they want. And that young girl she deserves a a young man her own age, it's a disjustice to young women for an old man to date them. Im real spiteful about it so probably don't want my thoughts on this one lol.

That's a very strong word there. What they are doing is perfectly legal. and though it seems... inappropriate, the girl is 18+ years old, she is a mature consenting adult. It is not borderline pedophilia. at best, it is borderline ephebophilia. interest in girl 15-19 years old. But even then... if he is 60 and she is 30... It is not the age gap that makes it wrong. It is maturity.

I agree there is something that just seems... inappropriate about it. But it is not a disjustice if the young woman consents to date the older man. Maybe she has good reason for skipping over her generation and dating an older one. Maybe she doesn't... either way she is choosing to do it.
as for the double standard... I don't know. The double standard exists because we live in a patriarchal society. But also, young men might date older women for the same reasons as younger girls date older men, but it's possible that men may care more about looks than women.
