CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

372 miles from Huntsville, AL (where I lived for 12 years) to Winston-Salem, NC (where I was born). Now, though, it's only 179 miles.

Gosh.. I don't know how many miles, kilometers, or arms-lengths away I am from my birthplace.
* the flight has several layovers, never direct. Usually takes about 19 hours. From my apartment to the airport where I greet my parents is usually about 24 hours.

If you count the place where I actually was BORN (the hospital) I live about 2 miles away. If you count where I grew up it's about 20 miles. I'm just on a different side of town.

Unlike Bevlina I do not need to say Adelaide, Australia, since I do not know of any other Adelaide in the entire world. Come to think of it, I do not know of any other place called Melbourne in the world. Bevlina must know something I do not.
How often do I get back there? About once every two years. Adelaide is like a small version of Melbourne and people in Adelaide sometimes go to Melbourne for shopping - a distance of a mere 800 Km.
I love going back there (to Adelaide) but I also love to get home here. I guess that leads to the question of what makes a place feel like your home - particularly if you have been born somewhere else and have lived a considerable portion of your life there.
