How essential is Ellen White to SDA?

God's Holy Days had their origin from the time of creation. The Scripture says in Genesis 26:5 "Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws." So who told Abraham what God's laws were? The Law was not given until Sinai.

The absence of any evidence in Scripture is not proof that it did not happen. But Abraham knew God's laws and statutes, where the Bible never tells us how or when he was told.

Paul specifically said "I must by all means keep this feast that cometh to Jerusalem, yet elsewhere on another time, he remained in Ephesus to keep the feast.

There is no such reason given in Scripture that Paul was there to preach to Jews. His commission was NOT to preach to the Jews, but he was sent to preach to the Gentiles. The source of such a reason that he was there to preach to as many Jews as possible, is from those who need to find a reason to not keep the feasts. It's lame. It's unfounded. It doesn't agree with the other references to the feasts, when he was not in Jerusalem.

I agree with this assertion Stan!

Even if there were aspects of the Levitical laws that had not yet been revealed to Abraham I bet that on the fourteenth day of the first month, Abraham would be guided to understand elements relevant to the Passover.

On the other hand in the seventh month by the Hebrew calendar I am sure he would be guided to understand concepts more so related to the harvest festivals!

The portion of this article regarding the Hebrew language in conjunction with studies done by a Swiss scientists named Hans Jenny is interesting!

Hebrew, the Language of Heaven!

In support of my previous post, refuting that Paul's intentions to attend the Feasts was merely to convert Jews.... The following reveals his intentions in keeping the Feasts, for what they are and wherever he was.

“After leaving Corinth, Paul’s next scene of labor was Ephesus. He was on his way to Jerusalem to attend an approaching festival, and his stay at Ephesus was necessarily brief.” (Acts of the Apostles, p. 269)

And we sailed away from Philippi after the days of unleavened bread. Acts 20:6

“At Philippi Paul tarried to keep the Passover. Only Luke remained with him, the other members of the company passing on to Troas to await him there. The Philippians were the most loving and truehearted of the apostle’s converts, and during the eight days of the feast he enjoyed peaceful and happy communion with them.” (Acts of the Apostles, pp. 390-391)

But I will tarry at Ephesus until Pentecost. 1 Corinthians 16:8
“Having completed his work at Corinth, he determined to sail directly for one of the ports on the coast of Palestine. All the arrangements had been made, and he was about to step on board the ship, when he was told of a plot laid by the Jews to take his life. In the past these opposers of the faith had been foiled in all their efforts to put an end to the apostle’s work. The success attending the preaching of the gospel aroused the anger of the Jews anew. From every quarter were coming accounts of the spread of the new doctrine by which Jews were released from the observance of the rites of the ceremonial law and Gentiles were admitted to equal privileges with the Jews as children of Abraham. Paul, in his preaching at Corinth, presented the same arguments which he urged so forcibly in his epistles. His emphatic statement, ‘There is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision’ (Colossians 3:11), was regarded by his enemies as daring blasphemy, and they determined that his voice should be silenced. Upon receiving warning of the plot, Paul decided to go around by way of Macedonia. His plan to reach Jerusalem in time for the Passover services had to be given up, but he hoped to be there at Pentecost.” (Acts of the Apostles, pp. 389-390)

It's really sad to see that the issue of the Feasts that have come up and
watch the people turn against them. We've been told (for those who have
listened), that there would be new light coming. But the people reject it as
though the message of the Feasts is coming from Satan. Some even think
that to keep them is an insult to God and an open rejection of the
sacrifice of our Messiah. Far be it from that, but rather it is the acting out
of the plan of salvation that goes FAR BEYOND just the sacrifices but to
the glorification and sanctification of the saints.

Ellen White has told us that very institution given us from God will be
restored before He comes. The keeping of the Feasts is the test coming to
the church BEFORE the final test that is to be given to the world. It is
here now. God desired to give it to His church in 1888, but as it is shown
in the record, it was then rejected, and it continues to be rejected today.
Some think that it is Righteousness by Faith, but has that has been
covered since then, and well established in the church, yet we are still
here. The reason, is because the Feasts are part of that message of
Righteousness by Faith, and the only part yet remaining that has not
been accepted by the church. However, there is a fast growing movement
within the church right now that many are seeing and accepting the
Feasts.

Every argument against the keeping of the Feasts, from Uriah Smith and
GC Pres. George Butler in 1888, to the leading theologians in our
seminaries today, are openly falsely interpreting the Scriptures and
twisting them to satisfy their agenda. They rarely speak of those
references that openly reveal that the Feasts are still with us, and when
they do, they use pathetic excuses.

For example: One said that we do not keep the Feasts because OUR new
year is not the same as the Jewish new year. What pathetic logic is that??
The calendar he is basing his argument on, is the Gregorian/Julian
calendar, which we were given by both popes Julian and Gregory; AKA
the beast! But God is the One who gave mankind the calendar, and until
the sun and moon pass away, His calendar still stands. It is the ONLY
manner of keeping time that God gave us. Others say that we must go to
Jerusalem to keep the Feasts, yet they refuse to acknowledge that the
Apostle Paul kept the Feasts with his Gentile converts in both Phillipi and
Ephesus.

On the other hand, not one supporter of the keeping of the Feasts has to
resort to twisted interpretations of Scripture or Ellen White, but simply
they take it as it reads and ACCEPT IT!

They Demonize Us:
Others accuse Feast keepers of a hidden agenda that ultimately will result
in their performing of blood sacrifices. However, the only Feast keepers who
might harbor that agenda are those who are ready to help rebuild the
temple in Jerusalem in preparation for Satan, the Antichrist. I know of no
Feast keeper who holds this agenda of sacrifices.

We Do Not Demonize Them:
Our agenda is to give to the church the restoration of God's Institutions,
which He gave us to greatly enhance our spiritual walk with Him. We call
to invite all to investigate, study and learn the truth so that they may
share in the immense blessings that these Feasts give us. Why do so
many reject such a wonderful opportunity and invitation?

You are absolutely right it is the final test and it shows the way to the Salvation plan. It is so sad that SDA do not get it. It is our message from the beginning. How did we get to the investigated judgment but on the Feast Day of YAHWEH. It also will lead you to accept the sacred name of the Almighty and recant in believing in the trinity. When the message of truth is reveal it is line upon line and precept upon precept. However, I also want to make clear to all that do observe the Feast of YAHWEH, you must observe them correctly according to Exodus Chapter Twelve and Lev Chapter Twenty Three. The reason is that many except the way that the Jews dictated them and that is incorrect. If you notice Stan that the Bible quoted the Feast of Unleavened Bread while EGW call it the passover. The Bible is correct EGW stated to take the Bible. She understood the Feast of Unleavened Bread as most did and still do base on the false worship of the Jews who attempted to make the Sabbath a burden and attempted to make the supper a day when it was not a day.

And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is YAHWEH'S passover. Ex 12:11​

Notice in the Scripture above it specificly states that YAHWEH'S passover is to be eaten. He never called it a day.

And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a Feast to YAHWEH throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a Feast by an ordinance for ever. Seven days shall ye eat unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away leaven out of your houses: for whosoever eateth leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be cut off from Israel. And in the first day there shall be an holy convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them, save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you. And ye shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever. Ex 12:14-17​

Here YAHWEH names a day but does not mention the passover anywhere in these Scriptures. The Feast consist of a whole week where unleaven bread is not to be eaten. He also memoralize the first day for eternity like the Seventh day Sabbath. Then He names the whole week a Feast called Unleavened Bread in which the ritual of not eating leavening or yeast that represent sin. This was the Redemption Plan that points to the Salvation plan. Both plans are here.​

And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the YAHWEH 'S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped. Ex12:26, 27​

A service is not a day but a ritual that you do on the specified day. The service was the supper or the killing and eaten the passover lamb that was to be sacrifice. This was only the Redemption plan.​

In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is YAHWEH'S passover. And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread unto YAHWEH: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread. Lev 23:5, 6​

Here above YAHWEH makes it clear again that the passover supper was to start the evening of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. He again did not call it a Feast He clearly said at evening should it be observed which is to eat it actually just before midnight. Then YAHWEH states again very clearly the fitheenth day starts the Feast called Unleavened Bread.​

Ye know that after two days is the feast of the passover, and the Son of man is betrayed to be crucified. Mat 26:2​

I do not know how many people don't know that the word feast was not in the original text but was place there by the scribes. King James writers accepted the false teachings of the Jews concerning the passover and place it here​

Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread drew nigh, which is called the Passover. Luke 22:1​

If you notice only Luke wrote the truth and the scribes did not place it here. It was the Feast of Unleavened Bread, inwhich the Jews did call the whole week the passover. They were wrong and YAHWEH made sure that the truth would be written correctly for all to see that in vain do man worship Elohim, teaching their false tradictions and doctrines!​

Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even YASHUA our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the Feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 1Co 5:7, 8 ​

Once again the truth is revealed that Feast Days were not nailed to the cross. Again the word Feast was written by Paul and Here both the Plan of Redemption and Salvation is mentioned. The Savior was our Passover Lamb in the Garden but not on the cross-the Redemption plan. He was our burnt offering on the cross. Now Paul states what the Feast of Unleavened Bread really means and that is to purge the leaven of all types of sin out of our lives which is the Salvation plan. We all today should keep the Feast Days today because it is the Salvation Plan that if obeyed they will prepare all for the Kingdom of Righteousness and YASHUA'S place that He has prepared for us. Adam kept the Feast he like the sons of Elohim (in Job), went to Heaven and presented themselves before the Almighty. Satan tried to disguise himself, but YAHWEH Jr. stopped him at the gate.

There is much we truly need to understand about the past, present and future. How the angels of Satan are not all dwelling here and how he is the only one who is not locked down where he preside with them as their leader. I urge all to understand that the truth in the Bible is being reveal and unless you truly understand the Feast Days of YAHWEH which is the key that will unlock the mysteries hidden but simple to understand that are in the Bible to those who will obey all that YAHWEH will have us to do!

Hi, I don't know a great deal about Adventism but I did find a copy of 'The Desire of Ages' in an old second-hand bookstore about 1 year ago.

I read it and was amazed!

I also have begun reading the Desire of Ages. An excellent read for anyone who wishes to learn to live their life after the example of Jesus Christ. By observing we are changed into the same image. To better learn to forgive even the worst offenders among us.

The Adventist doctrine is directly from the Bible. So you would be fine without her. The only problem would be not having the spirit of prophecy like the Bible points at. So you would still need some kind of prophet.
