  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I am currently praying for my husband and I to overcome a struggle (see my other thread if you want details)... but, my question is, how often do I have to pray? I pray once a day for it maybe, but I feel like if I don't pray every minute, or at least more than once a day, that God won't answer, since I am not praying enough. I don't want to pray a lot about it, cause then it is on my mind a lot. I just want it to go away... Please offer help, thanks.

It is better to have one effective prayer than many half-hearted ones.

I have a read book recently which tells you (from a biblical perspective) how to increase the power of your praying. (How To Pray, it is called)

You need to be living as pure a life as possible, and if there are any particular sins that you have committed lately you need to repent for them. Sin is a serious hinderance to prayer.

Also you need to beleive that God can do it. Jesus said that if you beleive that God will 'move a mountain into the sea' then he will.

Thirdly you motivation for prayer must not be selfish, but to bring Glory to God !!!
If I pray for my mothers salvation (and beleive me 'I AM') then my central motive for wanting that must be so God is Glorified, not so I can feel relief that my mother not going to hell.

So if you want God to help you and your husband to overcome a struggle then do the following:
1. Repent for any unrepented sins and try to live a Godly life.
2. If you harbour resentment against anyone, then forgive them.
3. Beleive it will happen (Ask and You will receive, Knock and the Door will be opened to You)
4. Ask that God is Glorified through the resolution of this situation.

Remember God always answers prayer in some way or other. Sometimes its a Yes, other times a No and other times a Yes but not yet !!! All this depends on His will which is perfect.

Good luck

WOW! BONHOFFER has offered some good guidence. I pray in the morinng, and at night before I go to bed. However, I "talk "to God at various times through the day when it "strikes' me. When I pray "formally", I thank God for His gifts and blessings; I ask for His forgiveness for my transgressions, and then I ask HIm for whatever it is that I need help with in Jesus' name. Don't worry about praying "enough", as He already knows what's in our hearts. Don't let your mind be troubled. Open your heart that His Spirit may give you peace and comfort. Let His will be done, and trust it. Keep the faith, and may you have peace. You'll be in my prayers
