I already spent my time worshipping. Right now I'm witnessing.
Ahh got it! Thanks!I would say "education" is a better term. The fact that you are trying to worship God tells me that you are headed in the right direction. Like in the NT where the believers who had the baptism of John the Baptist but had never heard of the baptism of the Holy Spirit.
Think of the Sabbath as a date (in the positive sense) with God; He has set aside one day a week to be with you--where do you want to be? Golfing, shopping, etc.?
This does seem quite silly to me. He lives in us. He doesn't need an appointment with us one day a week. He is always with us and we are always with Him. All our time is with Him. He is with me if I go golfing. He is with me if I go shopping. He is with me when I read the Bible. He is with me when I brush my teeth. He is with me when I'm working or resting.
1 Corinthians 6 "
19Do you not know that your body is the temple (the very sanctuary) of the Holy Spirit Who lives within you, Whom you have received [as a Gift] from God? You are not your own,
20You were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body."
The sign of the old covenant was the Sabbath. The sign of the new covenant is the Spirit living in us!!

It is true that God is ever with us. But, He only set one day aside, blessed it and hallowed it and has asked us to come and be with Him on that day. The question is would you rather be with God wholly and completely for awhile or not? When you are out on a date with someone doesn't it bother you when they aren't paying attention to it but on something else. "Oh yeah, honey, I'm with you while I'm golfing, working, scuba diving, riding my hog, "you're on my mind" all the time why should we have to spend "quality time" together? That's so boring and dull."
Where does it say that in Scripture?
The Bible says:
Ezekiel 20:12
Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD that sanctify them.
Who sanctifies you?
The traditions and teachings of man or God?
Who do you love with all your heart, mind and soul?
BTW, did you know that most Christians even as late as the 5th century kept the Sabbath?
Did you know that some people who oppose the Sabbath knew that but didn't tell you about it?
In the old covenant God sanctified a day. In the new covenant God sanctifies us! How else can the Holy Spirit live in us?
It was a very beautiful shadow of the rest we have in Christ. However, that shadow given to the Jews is nothing compared to the reality of resting in Him everyday. I do keep the fulfilled Sabbath - I rest in Him everyday.
What is it, rest or be in church?
Can't do both.
They couldn't even travel from
their home on the Sabbath,
at least not far enough to get to
a church (if I remember right)
How do we keep the Sabbath,
according to the Bible naturally.
thanks in advance,
