2 Peter 1:5-7 lists a formula for spritual growth in Christ. Starts with the framework of faith on the foundation of Christ. It says to add to your faith: virtue, knowledge, temperance, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and charity. In that order one on top of the other. For instance you can not have the true knowledge until you have virtue and so on.
I like to look at it like a blueprint of our internal temple of God.
Jesus is the Foundation
Faith is the framework
virtue= 1st story
knowledge= 2nd story
temperance= 3rd
patience= 4th
godliness (holiness)=5th
brotherly kindness=6th
and above all charity (Col 3:14, 1Pet 4:8)= 7th story
