Ok, I give in!! This by no means is a firm commitment to become a salvationist, but I feel like I should at least know about the process and what I would be getting myself into if I were to become a soldier... besides the uniform.

With that said, what is the process of becoming a soldier, and what would I be signing up for?

The process can really depend on the individual corps - some insist that people first become adherents, it can get quite complex and drawn-out! Others will just ask you to go to soldiership classes and as long as they don't think you're insincere (or don'r understand what you're doing, etc), will then enrol you as a soldier.

It's quite a commitment. One which, in many ways, we can never fully live up to. There are the obvious things, like not drinking alcohol, smoking, taking non-prescribed drugs or gambling. Then there's the commitment to God, the Salvation Army and your individual corps. It's a commitment of time, money and loyalty.

Anyone got a link to the actual statement we sign?
