Huge question on my mind.
No one can answer this question of course but im sure you guys can share your thoughts and enlighten me...please.

I dont understand how God expects us to not sin when he's cast us down to earth (hell) to live, breath and rub shoulders with Satan and his minions...
Why not let good people live in a world with good people..? Atleast not with Satan himself. Its torture. Can somebody please help me find the logic in this?

I understand its a test to weed out the weak but the way I see it, its just turning good people evil...

How am I expected to believe/ have faith in someone that I've never seen or heard?

The devil is all around me. I see them prosper all day long by living a life of sin while I suffer everyday, even though i've been with God since day one.
How am I supposed to stay faithful?

I've never seen God or heard God.. I just go by what i've been told by someone that was told by someone else (Chinese whispers?)

My head hurts just trying to make sense of this all...

Its sad because I dont even have the ability to be a evil person. Therefore I have to suffer my whole life...

Anyone?

Hate to break it to you, but humanity is inherently evil, not good. If we were good, then we would not be sinners, would we? And if we were not sinners, then Christ would not have had to die for sins that wouldn't exist.

I think you need to learn what 'good' really is.

DCJazz is exactly correct. Man is inherently evil. Man inherited Sin from Adam & Eve.

God never placed us here with the intent to "Rub shoulders" with Satan or his minions. Satan tricked man into sinning and as a result, man has inherited sin.

Picture a canyon....you are standing on one side of the canyon, and God is on the other side. You want to get to God, but you can't, because of the canyon.

That canyon represents Sin.
Jesus' death on the cross is a Bridge that crosses that canyon. If you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, He places that bridge in front of you so you can cross over that sin over to God.

(Yes, I know, it's a simplistic Analogy, but it's what I use to describe what Jesus did for us in laymans terms...it works so I use it!)

Thanks for the replies guys.

How can we live a life without sin if you have to sin to stay alive?

Are there different levels of sin?

Like Murderers are going to hell but someone that stole a lollipop will be ok...

Or are all sins are sins no matter how big or small..?

Sorry for the stupid questions, I was never taught these things but im trying to learn so I dont get tossed into a eternal fire. (for being stupid)

I don't believe you have to sin to stay alive. In some areas of the world you may have to make that decision, to deny Jesus or be put to death; but in the normal course of life in most of the world, sin is not necessary, only desirable. Maybe you could be more specific on what you mean here?

Are there different levels of sin?

Like Murderers are going to hell but someone that stole a lollipop will be ok...

Yes and no... all sin is equal in that it seperates you from relationship to God, yet the Bible seems to indicate that some sins are more severe than others.

Forgive me for being so forward, but something in me indicates that you may have never had a personal encounter with Jesus. This doesn't necessarilly mean you are not saved, as I went some time after accepting Jesus before He really began revealing Himself to me experientially. Despite this, I feel led to share the basic truth of the gospel with you.

All of us are born sinful, and thus separated from a relationship with God... if you doubt this, just consider how a baby cares for nothing but satisfying it's own needs and desires; and look at how any toddler caught doing what they shouldn't do will lie and deny they did it... nobody had to teach them (or any of us) to lie. There is nothing we can do about this, no amount of doing the right thing can change the fact that we are born sinners by inclination (we all desire to do the wrong thing) and prove that in practice (we all have done and will do the wrong thing). Because God is righteous (morally perfect) and just (giving a right verdict for every wrong), He cannot engage in relationship with man and must pass sentence on us for our wrongs. Still, God is also good, loving, and mercifull...

God knew from the beginning this would happen, and had a plan for redeeming us to Himself. Jesus, son of man and Son of God, did what none of us could ever do: He lived a life in perfect relationship with God, and never sinned. Because He was not under condemnation for any wrongs of His own, and He represented us in His humanity and God in His divinity, Jesus could take God's punishment for all our wrongs upon Himself. This He did when He went willingly to the cross, where God poured out His penalty for all sins upon Jesus. Jesus rising from the dead proves that God has accepted His sacrifice on our behalf. Now God's righteous justice has been fulfilled, and we can enter into relationship with Him by accepting Jesus' sacrifice in our place through faith.

In order to be made right in God's eyes and be able to experience real relationship with Him, all people must accept Jesus as Lord (God's appointed ruler over us) and Savior (God's mediator between us and only way to be made right in God's eyes because of the cross). Yes, it is that simple... by placing our trust in what Jesus did for us and accepting Him as God's appointed ruler over us, God then chooses to see the perfect life of Jesus in us instead of our own sinfull lives... and we can experience relationship with God. We come into relationship with God through prayer... I suggest a prayer like this:

Father God, I accept the truth that I am a sinner, I am sorry for my sins and desire to turn away from them and towards you. I believe that Jesus paid the penalty for all my sins, I believe that He rose from the dead, and I believe that You have appointed Him as my rightfull ruler. I ask in Jesus' name that you forgive me for all my past, present, and future sins; and I ask that you would bring me into right relationship with You because of Him. Amen.

When we do this sincerely and truthfully, God does something wonderous... He sends His Holy Spirit to dwell in our hearts. Through the Holy Spirit we have relationship with God, in the Holy Spirit we are given the power to overcome our own sinfull nature, and by the Holy Spirit we are given gifts that enable us to do good works that God has prepared for us to do. The Holy Spirit will point us to Jesus Christ, with the goal of conforming our inner selves and our outward lives more and more into the image of Jesus. If you are unsure of your salvation, I implore you to say that prayer sincerely and truthfully. If, on the other hand, you are sure of your relationship with God, please forgive me for my uncertainty.

God bless you, walkingdead;

Mike

God gave you life to enjoy it.. God is the only one that can give life.. So you will never be perfect but, in time that extends this time you can learn to undo selfish behaviors.. that takes time to learn..

Intentions is so important. Just mean people well and try to do whats right.. will you fail at times..of course but, the more you try the more help you will get from the heavens. Dont beat yourself up and have a true bond with God.. tell God..involve God. Be honest with God.

All The Glory Belongs To God Forever!

^_^ This is actually a GREAT topic for discussion, and shows a sincere heart.

First, you are familiar with the verbiage that G-d calls us "the sheep of His pasture?"

What do we know about sheep? They are affectionate, loyal, but DUMB. I mean, really stupid. So rest assured there will be no intelligence test to get into the pearly gates ^_^

Next up, you need the end of Romans 8. First, recall that Romans says that the wages of sin is death, and speaks in these terms quite a lot. Now:

"For I am persuaded, that neither death, [being the wages of sin] nor [a whole long list of other things] shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

PLEASE don't get me wrong, we still need the whole Gospel! But right now you need this.

I dont understand how God expects us to not sin when he's cast us down to earth (hell) to live, breath and rub shoulders with Satan and his minions...

Earth is paradise compared to hell. Don't take for granted the many blessings God has given you. Your life each day is a gift, and His mercies are new every day. Your sight is a gift, your hearing, your very breath is a gift. Thank God for food, water and a roof over your head. You're doing better than the majority of people in the world if you live in a western country.

Why not let good people live in a world with good people..? Atleast not with Satan himself. Its torture. Can somebody please help me find the logic in this?

The reason we live in a fallen world is not because of Satan, it is because of man. You cannot pin even one sin that man has done on Satans shoulders. God has given everyone a conscience to know right from wrong. We're all personally responsible for our own sins and we will have no excuse before the judgment seat.

What God considers good is moral perfection. Everything short of that God considers evil. Only one man has ever made the grade, and that is Jesus Christ. He died for our sins, so that we could be reconciled to God and have eternal life.

If you are being constantly tortured it is because you do not understand the freedom you have in Christ. Life here is not a cakewalk, but Jesus lives within you. He gives a peace that surpasses understanding. When you are feeling tortured, press into Him. Cast all of your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you. You have been given a great salvation, and you have a hope that brings joy. God loves you more than you comprehend. You have many reasons to be happy.

I understand its a test to weed out the weak but the way I see it, its just turning good people evil...

Only God is good, and we can only be called righteous because of His righteousness. We are justified by our faith alone. This isn't a test to weed out the weak, it is a spiritual battle and we need to take the fight to the enemy and free the captives that are bound to do his will.

How am I expected to believe/ have faith in someone that I've never seen or heard?

Are you born again? Is Jesus living within you?

The devil is all around me. I see them prosper all day long by living a life of sin while I suffer everyday, even though i've been with God since day one.
How am I supposed to stay faithful?

Read the Psalms. Also, read Matthew 6. We are not here to prosper materially, we are here to do the will of God. You are rich when you know Jesus Christ. Everything here is perishing, and passing away, but those who do the will of God will live forever.

You stay faithful by asking God for help in everything. We need His help to stay faithful, and to stay in His will. You can do nothing by your own power. You need to realize how dependent you are on God for everything. You cannot maintain your faith without His help. You need to stay in prayer and lay these burdens at His cross, and surrender your will to God. Only by surrendering your whole will to God will you overcome.

I've never seen God or heard God.. I just go by what i've been told by someone that was told by someone else (Chinese whispers?)

Were you born into the church? You need to know God personally or you don't know Him at all.

My head hurts just trying to make sense of this all...

Its sad because I dont even have the ability to be a evil person. Therefore I have to suffer my whole life...

Anyone?

We are all born with a corrupt nature, predisposed to sin. What man highly exalts God considers an abomination. In Gods sight, all of our good works are like filthy rags before Him. So, you don't have any standing with God based on what you've done. You have standing with God based on your faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. This is what justifies you before God.

Do you know that you are adopted into the family of God as a son? Do you understand what a privilege it is to have the right to call God your Father? Do you believe in His promises? Do you read the bible?

Amen! This right here perfectly describes how we as Christians can overcome the power of sin in our lives. We alone can do nothing, we need to get our flesh out of the way and let the Holy Spirit live through us. Absolute surrender, absolute dependence = victory.

Salvation is three-fold, past, present, and future. Upon repentance and faith in Christ, we have been saved from the condemnation of sin (justification). Throughout the whole course of our lives we are being saved from the power of sin (sanctification). At the resurrection-rapture on the last day we will be saved from the presence of sin (glorification).

So much good advice in the posts given. We must all understand our position in the
Body of Christ.
Words are really the power of life and death to us all.
Speak good things about yourself. Let your words lift you up not put you down.
Say what the Scriptures says about you. That you love Jesus, and you are going over and not going under.
Satan has no power over the believer. He is just lying and trying to get all who will to replete his lies. Truth will always win out. Speak truth daily. That is the power to overcome all adversity.
Ignore the things that do not edify.

Anyone?

This thread is lacking scripture and he is in need of understanding them.
Christianity is mostly about Christs death. Almost anytime I have a question that is all I need to think about so lets go to luke 23 in the king james bible or any bible you wish but I will post it form the king james version.

32 There were also two others, criminals, led with Him to be put to death. 33 And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left. 34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”[h]
And they divided His garments and cast lots. 35 And the people stood looking on. But even the rulers with them sneered, saying, “He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God.”
36 The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him sour wine, 37 and saying, “If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself.”
38 And an inscription also was written over Him in letters of Greek, Latin, and Hebrew:[i]
THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39 Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ,[j] save Yourself and us.”
40 But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? 41 And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” 42 Then he said to Jesus, “Lord,[k] remember me when You come into Your kingdom.”
43 And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.”

While they were in the process of condemning Christ and the 2 other criminals Jesus said please forgive them lord for they know not what they do.

I do not think there are good and bad people. If there are then I was a bad person but now I am apparently someone ells because I am a good person.

But I was not a bad person and now someone completely different I am the same person. I just did not know what I was doing. Now I do know what I am doing and whats really going on. I have regained my faith.

Now there were 2 other criminals with Jesus. We can assume they were at minimum theifts. Most likely murders since they were getting the death sentence. What I think is clear here is that it does not matter what he did because he at that moment knew what he was doing and what was going on and accept christ as his savior but he did not assume he was going to be with jesus in paradise he did not tell jesus to bring him to paradise.

what he said was Then he said to Jesus, “Lord,[k] remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” In other words think about me and save me if you deem it so.

We are not suppose to get all hotty and toot our own horns going around in circles exclaiming how saved we are. How do you know your saved? Are you the judge? Are you the authority?

No we must humble ourselves and ask god for forgiveness. If you are blatantly defying gods laws and know exactly that you are doing so and going around feeling like your all good all is forgiven it may not be so. God wants to forgive you he wants to but he has a line and I would recommend we do not cross it. It can be hard to get back onto the other side of that line.

I have no idea if I will go to the paradise but what I do know is that in my short human existence I am going to strive to do good works. I am going to associate with people at churches. I am going to stay sober and I am going to live a good life. I have faith that god will and jesus will provide for me what I deserve. If I deserve the garbage dump of Jerusalem so be it. If I get to go to paradise well thats fine and dandy all I can do is live for today.

God is a supreme being. He knows what he is doing and we have over a thousand pages to look through to find answers. If you are not finding the answers you either do not want to find them or you are just not looking hard enough.

You must have faith and pray for guidance and knowledge. You must mean your prays to.

In this flesh life we are sinners from the womb. We should all get on our faces before the LORD and deeply thank Him for giving us His Son Who absolves us from our sins. That is not a concept, that is a reality. Now go, and sin no more.

You are not going to go on living your life without sin from this point on. It is impossible. We are human. If you are able to go on from this moment and sin no more then you are now perfect. Only Jesus was perfect.

John 8:7

King James Version (KJV)

7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.

We are to strive to live without sin. Jesus says to go and sin no more but he is asking the impossible and he knows it. You must have the mindset to try not to sin no more so that way you will live as pure as you can.

Wow.

Im blown away at all the amazing posts.

I haven't done anything that's terrible, I treat everybody I meet with respect and am very humble.
I believe deep down inside Im doing the lords work better than most.

But Sadly as Mikeow pointed out, Im actually one of the worst people out there...
I am more aware and conscience of everything that goes on around me more so than 98% of the people out there...

Therefore I know what I do, I know when I commit sin, therefore that makes me worse than 98% of the people out there. Most people know not what they do...

It seems like I've been falling and falling and falling down the last 10 years of my life...probably more.

I was attending church getting closer to the Lord and on the right path about 6 months ago and my life was looking great, things were going right (even though I didn't think so at the time) but I fell off the wagon and straight into a pit of sin.

Since then everything just fell completely apart and I haven't spoken to the Lord ever since as Im so ashamed of myself. I hate myself for what I have done (nothing terrible) and letting the God down over and over and over... I even made promises to the Lord that I failed to keep and that I believe is the worst of the worst.

Im paying for it now. I don't think I should be forgiven.
I don't know how to go about reaching out to God after lieing (spelling) to his face.

I very much appreciate all the time and effort everybody has put into helping me out. Thanks so much.

well walkingdead I do not know you but I think you are beating your self up much more then needed.

You said fell of the wagon. I can assume were talking about addiction here. I assure you your disease has no idea what you are doing and that mental disease is hard to tame. So hard to tame that no man can overcome it.

I really doubt you sat there and said this is wrong and I know that but I am going to do this thing anyway. I betcha you sat there and rationalized and justified your actions. Then after the fact you realized it was wrong. Why did you realize? because you played the tape all the way through. In the real world. You got to the end of the tape and thought wow here I am and how could I of expected anything different.

Now it sounds like that you are here. You are striving to be good and righteous.

Well I am drawing a blank all the sudden so I will just wait for a response and go from there. I got work early in the morning and am tired.

Hello again walkingdead.

I can relate to you very well in your struggle with awareness of what you are doing and your sins. I was a christian for 7 years, was growing in the Lord, and even graduated Bible college with an Associate of Theology... yet I began to struggle greatly in recognizing the Holy Spirit, became paranoid and withdrew from church life, left my job, and even lost my home... for 1 1/2 years I lived in a hotel room, using up all my resources, avoiding human contact, and quickly loosing my faith. I was depressed, demon oppressed, and delusional. In the depths of my despair I went so far as to tell God; "If this is salvation, I don't want it!". To my everlasting shame, in my heart I renounced my salvation in Jesus. I became addicted to porn, and did nothing else but watch TV, play video games, and watch internet porn for over 6 months. Many times I contemplated suicide, and came very close to attempting it a couple times.

Yet God sent my parents to seek me out. With their urging I got psychiatric help, got a job, and began to live again. Slowly, the fog of depression lifted, yet the delusions and demonic attacks remained. Gradually, as an OTR truck driver, God began reaching out to me, drawing me back to Him; and slowly my faith returned. Yet now I had a huge hurdle to overcome that the enemy threw in my face evey time I tried to pray. I had renounced my salvation, and Satan wanted me to think I had commited blasphemy ofthe Holy Spirit as was lost forever. Still, the Holy Spirit reached out to me, and my faith became stronger and stronger again... until I overcame that hurdle, repented of my shamefull behavior and my rejection of Him, and pleaded for forgiveness in Jesus' name. Of course God responded to a broken and contrite spirit (Psalms 51:17), and I truly believe He has restored me to fellowship with Him. Everything isn't perfect; I still struggle with demonic attacks on my mind, and I still struggle with discerning what is soul and what is Spirit, and what is of man and what is of God or demonic-- yet God is with me, He carries and sustains me through it all.

I share this because I believe you are under attack from the enemy, and God is allowing all this to test your faith in Him... don't let the enemy have victory, even the temporary one he had over me. Confess your sinfulness to the Lord, and He is faithfull and just to forgive you, and cleanse you of all unrighteousness (1John 1:9). A pastor/teacher I cannot remember the name of right now once said; "The path to holiness is paved with a sense of our own wretchedness". Solomon lamented "with much wisdom comes much sorrow of heart" (Ecclesiastes 1:18). I urge you to prayerfully put on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18), stand firm against the enemy of your soul by trusting Jesus fully.

1Jn 1:1-10 NASB What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life-- (2) and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us-- (3) what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. (4) These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete. (5) This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. (6) If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; (7) but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin. (8) If we say that we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. (9) If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (10) If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar and His word is not in us.

I urge you to contemplate that passage in light of your awareness... is this not coming into the light? Do not shrink back! Accept the fact that you are a sinfull man, confess your sins to God in prayer, repent from them as best you can, and allow the blood of Jesus to cleanse you from all unrighteousness, for He is faithfull and just to do so. If you are not in fellowship with other Christians, I strongly urge you to seek out a Bible preaching, Bible believing, Holy Spirit filled church in your area. It may take weeks to find one that the Lord gives you a peace about, but His desire is that we experience the Christian life in community with other believers (Hebrews 10:25).

Suming it up, as Winston Churchill famously said (my paraphrase):

"Don't give up. Never... ever, EVER give up!"

God bless you, walkingdead... I hope this tesimony and encouragement helps you, and I'm sorry it is such a long post.

Mike

God does not expect you not to sin. Where did you get any such obscene, and heretical idea?

God doesn't expect you to be sinless in your thoughts and/or your deeds because Christ, the spotless Lamb of God, has imputed His righteousness on you in exchange for your sin. In other words there is no need for you to be sinless which is a good thing because it is impossible. And anyone I've ever met who claims to be sinless is lying. Twice. First they lie because they all have the sin of pride and second they are lying by claiming to be sinless.

Be careful with the sheep analogy because Jesus is the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. :)
