How do you win an argument only a few want to win, without saying "most people"?

Hi there,

I just want to know what the argumentative alternatives are: when you are trying to win an argument only a few people want to win, without invoking the argument "most people... such and such"?

Thanks.:holy:

Popular belief doesn't make it true. or Even though it is not the most popular opinion.

I don't know if that is what you are looking for, probably not, huh? I guess that's more of a way to begin an unpopular point.

Thanks for posting.

I actually came to the conclusion, that you can't even work out the answer to this, without accepting that you may not change humanity (even at your best), that is, forsaking most people yourself.

is your assumption that the position you are defending can only be defended by invoking popularity ?
if so, chances are it is not a good position to argue about.
your question is somewhat hard to comprehend.

This means making an argument without appealing to the populace.

Not that difficult, actually.

I don't really get the question.

Do you mean, how do you convince a minority of a majority belief, without an appeal to popularity?

Well if you want to convince someone that the Earth goes round the Sun, you could try explaining the evidence. Use a reasonable argument that isn't a logical fallacy.
