  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

How do you view Sola Fide view of Scripture, "rigid" or "Dynamic" ?

John Luze said:
Reliance upon Scripture alone, without Tradition or the proper authority to interpret it, is un-Christian.
Wrong. It is un-"Roman Catholic Church", not un-Christian.

Without a sole secular leader, or a a sole 'universal' leader over all, most Christian groups agree on enough essentials to get along and even pray for each other. Yes, there's the few who teach 'only as we do' but they aren't mainstream or essentially Christian.

The point of Sola Scriptura is the Bible as the message of God is the sole authority for Christian belief and our understanding of God, His nature and His will. Mr. Luze, if you are comfortable in your position as a faithful Catholic, I have no ill will nor animosity to you. Please continue and serve God as He directs you. However, your understanding is NOT binding on me or any other Christian. (Nor is mine or "their's" binding on you.)

Feel free to do what you feel led to do, but don't get the silly idea you can tell me what I believe.

I don't think the Bible can function as an autonomous authority because authority implies a "who" not a "what". Once we make Christianity about "whats", we lose something fundamental.
